Participating in Link farms?!?

So are you telling me that pretty most every single model's official website is banned, or is going to be banned from search engines?

Because most, if not all websites of popular models (Playboy, Penthouse, Porn Stars, Etc.) have traded links in a "Friends" section with many other model's sites.

These "Friends" sections, on which my website has been listed on several, contains only text links (website title), or which is actually more common only a banner.

I started getting my banner on such "Link Farms" as you call them, about 1½ year ago, and I get one added to sites quite frequently, but my site is not banned, nor is any of the official model sites of the 700 models I deal with.

So could someone please elaborate and/or educate me on this subject.

This is the part of the statement you need to look at
"These pages have no unique content just links"
Models sites, presumably, have some sort of content and not just links.

Hi Jim,

I did read that, and no if you want I can provide hundreds of examples of pages consisting ONLY of banners, all belonging of sites of popular models, and none of the sites linked to on those pages are, as far as I am aware off banned.

RWF - a good example of a link farm would be a FFA site that does "nothing but" provide links - no text content, and usually consists of numerous attempts to spam

The model banner pages are a part of a larger site that has a purpose other than to just list links - and quite honestly while I wouldnt expect those to be banned, I also wouldnt expect them to rank in the SERPs very well (the link pages that is) - although Ive seen some where there is a brief synopsis written for each banner that do well - text=content

So you have 100s of pages that link to nothing but other links?

I will try to find it on the google website but, they say the same thing.

As a side note...I didn't write this weeks tip. It was sent to me to be used in the newsletter. But, to be banned for having 100s of pages of nothing but links to themselves doesn't seem too outrageous to me.

You have to remeber that with the solo amateur or model sites, a lot of thise "friends" pages are nothing more then glorified top lists with thumbs & whatnot.

Greenguy, yes I know that fact. Actually one my websites has a "friends" page with banners and a little text describing each link.

But even with those sites that have pages with "only" banners, and those sites who have a toplist page, I still do not understand the reason to be banned by a search engine, for trading traffic with a site similar to yours.

I mean what is actually the basis for being banned for having your website on somebody's toplist? Why would they punish you for that?
