Changing servers affect listings?

A question for the se gurus among us

Thinking about changing servers...same host...faster servers...more b/w...faster network...lower price...all good stuff!

All domains are on dedicated ips. To facilitate this server move, all ips and name servers must be changed.

Old servers will be left online until dns has fully propagated.

As long as I've been in this biz...se's still freakin elude me |pissed|

Will a server move and ip/name server change like this have any effect on se listings?

I'm not an SE guru, but as far as I've seen in the past, just moving to fresh IPs shouldn't change anything.

If your sites remain intact and unchanged.... then your server move should make no difference.

Thanks guys...that's pretty much what I figured.

Going to great lengths to make the move seamless...or as seamless as possible anyway...these ARE computers after all...there's always a hiccup...lol.

Have been running these boxes for 2 years now...time for an upgrade

Thanks again DD and Urb...really appreciate the info

Hi Mr Yum,

I changed servers about 6 months ago now and all my se listings stayed pretty much the same .
Totally different server in another country in my case.

As DD said if you keep the same site structure you should see no real difference in your placements.

Regards,

Wicked1

Hey there Wicked,

Excellent! Yep, the entire drives are being tar'ed up and unpacked on the new machines...with no changes. I'm good to go

Already started the process...new boxes go live this week...gonna be great to have faster servers.

Thanks again for all the info guys...very much appreciated
