Free site with problems
I just started building free sites and i thought they were good (not great but good), Damn was i wrong.
this is my free site http://freepornpicturez.com/freesites/anal/911/ this is whats wrong with it design is out of alignment, pictures and text are on top of each other. Title is a clickable link. 2257 statement has links to porn. Your enter link is not aligned with the enter picture. Basically site looks quite bad. I used photo shop for the title and background picture then i layered it with the table of links in dreamweaver When i look at it through my browser looks good, but if i look at it at 800X600 or anyother browser the pictures are aligned but the layered table is all the way to the right? not sure how to fix. 2257 statement has links to porn my statement http://sc-2257.com/ is silvercashes for sponsored content it has 5 links to report spam and cp and other stuff but not porn. I was wondering if i should jusy copy this page to my freesite without the 5 links or what? I hate coping anything but i dont know what to do? Title is a clickable link I reallly didnt think this was a biggie, but will all link list deny my site because of this? Thank you for any help i try to work real hard and would just like to get some nice freesites going. |confused| |

here's what I would suggest...toss the photoshop backgrounds, and just use plain html and tables for your design. Once you've got that down, it's easier to add design elements. If you are going to use Dreamweaver to build your pages, use it in split mode at least, so you can see your code as you go.
- Title should never be clickable. - There is a link to a porn site on the 2257 page, I never noticed that before on that one. Lots of people just copy the info & host it on a page themselves, without the links. Freesites don't have to be so graphical, it's easier (and faster) if you just KISS |

Not a good idea to use layers.
Use tables and then you can put everything into a table and have them centered on the page so that it looks good on any size screen. Couldn't even click on the enter link. |

Glad to see you here.
Some good advice already. One thing I would suggest is go look around some Link Lists and see what the listed free sites look like, click of stuff and see what you are allowed to do and what not. DO NOT COPY any designs, but you can get inspired and maybe get new ideas. 2257, like ponygirl said, copy the info and hosted on your server. Also browse the Link List threads and do some reading, a lot of information available here already. Good Luck and welcome to the wonderful world of FREE SITES. |

thanks everyone I really needed that help
i will rework it in tables instead and see what kind of designs i can come up with, and i will put the 2257 info on my own server, and drop the link in the title. i will post back when i get something figured out thanks |

Is it ok if the site scrolls at 800X600 or should i design the site to fit 800X600? |

Personally, I still keep my tables max about 770px so it doesn't scroll, just to keep it to the lowest common denominator. But that's just me |

Ok i have remade the index page with tables. this is a very simple design, Im just wondering if it would be acceptable or if it needs more work. If this seems ok i will redo the rest of this site like this.
http://freepornpicturez.com/freesites/anal/911/ thank you for all the help |

Big Improvement! A couple of things, you can have three links to your sponsor per page, use them since most of the sales do come from the index page, you can use banners and text. Also the site title has to be on the page, has to be different from the site you are promoting and try to stay within 3 or max 4 words.
Simple design works! |

so i should just scrap the "free porn picturez presents" and just use a title like "anal slut uses whip". makes sense
can one of the sponsor links be a banner for my main site freepornpicturez.com or is this frowned apon |

Yes and Yes, better title and yes I always try to promote my own sites using one of the links. Try to use some text around the banner, above or below since most surfers just ignore the standard banners.

I'd list it - you can have three adds on the gallery pages - more chances to sell.
After reading the above comments, you've come a long way. I start every FS with two tables - one set to 100% width and centered (I call this the "wrapper table"). This enures the site centers in FireFox. I then add a table inside the the wrapper table (I call this one the "content table"), set it's width to 760, center it then add all my content inside ths table. Every FS I make starts with this setup. You can change width as needed. I left the llink to the stylesheet as I always use one. Feel free to use this - it is just basic html and has no content copyright value. Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Title</title> <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <meta name="description" content="description" /> <meta name="keywords" content="add keywords" /> </head> <body class="wrapper_table"> <table align="center" width=100% cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" class="wrapper_table"><tr><td align="center"> <!--Header Table - Place h1-3 in this table - may use an image for the background--> <table align="center" width="760" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="1" class="content_table"><tr><td align="center"> <table align="center" width="760" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="header_table"> <tr> <td align="center"> <h1 class="h1">Title</h1> <h3 class="h3">Discription</h3> </td> </tr> </table> <!--Place all content tables below this line and before the 2257 Disclaimer Table--> Place content here <!--End Content Here--> <!--Closes Content Table--> </td></tr></table> <!--Closes Wrapper Table--> </td></tr></table> </body> </html> |

Site looks good. The one problem you might have getting listed is the fact that you use a free host. You may find your domain blacklisted for that.

papa thanks for the html, it should make it a lot easier for me to start my free sites.
TekAngel i dont really use a free host. i set up a dedicated server myself. (building computers is my main skill) i thought that would be ok. |

Banner on the Warning page and everything on the Main page is left aligned - looks a bit weird. Center align would look better. should be a simple fix.

First is - you have yellow text on a yellow background - a little hard to read and a good way to get in trouble for hiding text (although I don't think that was intended) - fix that and I'll look deeper.

For one thing, all of the text (other than links) are not visible since they are the same color as the background. I would also resize your images since they are HUGE! That makes things slow loading. You do not need 1065x1000 images which are 200k+ in size.

Thank you
i have the text all redone. I actually thought the yellow text gave the site some charater, I kinda forgot yellow text and yellow background is a big no no. I knew the pics were big but i forgot to resize them on another free site and i seemed to get more traffic from that site than anyother site i had. But i went ahead and resized all right under 100kb (it will save me a lot bandwith if anything) Thanks for the help

Well... the yellow background definitely gets your attention! However, the one thing that I experienced when I revisited it, and would probably be your biggest problem is site speed. I have a high speed connection, and I felt like I was on dial-up waiting for the site to load. Now that you have optimized things like the photos, it should be pretty fast to load, but unfortunately isn't
