Can U review my 1st Free Site?

My 1st free site is HERE

It took longer than I thought to really think out ad copy, placement and do the css color scheme.

I have a lot more LL recips to collect too.

I *really* tried to maximize each page to get people to visit the sponsor instead of using my bandwidth.

Max of 3 links per page right?

Any comments would be appreciated...

My big questions are:

1) Did I create an effective sales tool?
2) Is there anything I should modify to squeeze any more potential out of this free site?
3) Will LL reviewers find this site to be A-okay or are there any pet peeves I did that may annoy some LL reviewers?
4) Can I go to a 15 recip link table instead of 12?

Ya know- the reality of just having ONE of these per day to be able to submit is hitting me.

If I pay attention to comments here, and build clean, tight free sites- how long until I can get partner accounts?

PS- just realized I forgot a couple meta tags like keywords. Will add those in a bit.

I really want to feel confident about things before I start submiting, so i hope all you partying people come back to the boards today/tonight.

your exit link goes to more adult stuff.
Your text sponsor link, on the OnMouseOut it stays with the url on status bar til you mouseover something else
My eyes get drawn to the warning instead of the banner.
I would suggest keeping all your links to the sponsor the same color
Switch the galleries around a bit, make the surfer go through atleast one ad b4 seeing your content.
On your videos, I'm getting that funky page with a bunch of stuff I don't understand
Center the text at the bottom of your main page, although there is a good chance the surfer will never see it because your gallery link is way above it.
You are definitely on the right track, just remember that you don't want to hide the nescessaries(enter,exit,galleries) but you want to draw the attention away from them and to your sponsor links.

Thanks. I'll check the mouseout for the links again.

Point taken on the warning. Will tone that way down.

Also, someone else suggested to remove the image with the gallery links and just put text links...which I'll do...PLUS- put the gallery links under the ad copy.

I'll also bring the ad copy from the index page to the main page where it will stand a better chance of being looked at.

I'll also change the link color up top from blue to some other color.

About the movies...they are wmv's. Can you check again. The only time that happened to me was in netscape 4.

The one thing that caught my eye - or I should say didn't catch my eye - was the links to the galleries. Having them inside the same video screen thingy made me skip right past them the 1st time.

But like I said the other day, the layout is fine

I pretty much agree with most of what chrisrock79 had to say.

I'd make that warning statement a lot smaller and I don't personally use an exit link on my free sites. That's just me though. :-)

I just made a bunch of changes. LOL.

If you recall the thread here about "Strategic" placement of links, I went that way.

I deleted the media player image that was the gallery navigation.

Put a temp link to yahoo in exit leave links until I decide what else to put in there. Signed up with that privacy thingie that was in the newslletter so maybe will try that.

Instead of having a text link right under the banner I moved it to just above the thumbs.

Changed Link colors to all orange.

Brought over the ad copy from index page to main page.

Made the warning text much smaller and less LOUD so as to not draw attention away from the banner.

Checked mouseover/out to see if links restored to blank state. had a couple that 'stuck' before.

Can ya'll check again?

Someone at another board with a high post count thought there were too many recips as it is.

Is it like a known thing to LL owners "outside" this board that 12 recips is okay?

Made warning much smaller and low key.

No exit link? Is that allowed? Guess so if ya do it. But it seems an area where one can link to some other non adult thing for the surfer to potentially buy.

Glad the movies played. I cleared browser cache and checked each one.

I don't like the justification of the text on one of the pages, but I'll tweak that later.

As far as what I said before about the page of stuff I don't understand, I use mozilla and that happens to me a bit when looking at video sites.
I hate ie so never use it.
But i just checked and it works fine with ie, don't know what is up with the yahoo thing in mozilla.

On your mainpage, now the thing that stands out to me is your text and sponsor link, very nice, you could up the font-size a bit but it's okay like that also
I hear no exit link is fine as long as you tell them in your warning they must leave if underage.
Maybe, just maybe, give it a <br> between the gallery links and the banner.

Good start for your first one. I would put the gallery links under the banners. You want the surfers to see and click the banners first. Also put some text over and under the banners....

That is the hotlink protection which shouldn't occur. I e-mailed my host to ask if they were testing things out today.

Hmm. That's just odd. FireFox 0.9.3 is my default browser, but I test the sites in IE6 first then FireFox, then NS 4.5.1

Don't blame you. The wmv's work fine for me in firefox though. Never had any video probs. I clear my cache prior to each time I test my site and the video did stream to WMP.

I had some odd stuff with the way FireFox handles cookies and asked the host if the hotlink protection is cookie based or just IP based as they indicate.

The funny page thing (you mean like a dump of misc characters loading?) shouldn't have to do with the site.

But I asked my host to explain the movie protection better to me.

Yeah- Maybe go up 2px on the font...will see.

I think I'll keep the exit/leave links and send people to non-adult based stuff if they click it.

That was when I had the media play with the two thumbs and an image map as the Gallery links.

I am surprised to see you using wmv files. Hopefully no one will hot link them.

Unless you us ie or have have nutscape using media player as a helper program,WMV files will always download in your cache thats all the junk your referring too.Only way I've ever seem to get around it is a right click.And yup it takes me to yahoo if i just click it.
I would still have done a 10,000 mil second grab on that two minutes of the clip just for different pics.

You're getting way too fancy with this one - the enter link needs to be moved up & the gallery links need to be moved down the page where someone can see them. If I get confused surfing the site, I tend to decline it because I consider myself a decent surfer.

Alphawolf your site is ok but IMHO your trying to hard - let it flow use your index to get them in and easy to get in, dont try and give and use all of your three out going links on a page that dont look right with 3 banners and make your pages tight and short if you can..

now that site once it runs though the new listings of a LL its about dead for traffic so what now, it gets picked up by the SE spiders, now here is a hint, that fancy title you have on the top of the warning page left click and read the properties - how many people is going to look for a site named header 1 you see what I mean..
and work on layouts and not fancy - that will come IMHO

Thanks Cleo. Actually, it's crap right now. I just got some awesome suggestions I'll implement tomorrow.

Regarding the WMV's - go ahead and hotlink them. It will be viewable by you for 1hr since the last time you viewed any of my pages.

If a person didn't view any of my pages from my domain they will be redirected.

It's IP based. As long as the surfer visists my pages then their IP is OK all the time from my pages and 60 minutes after they leave the site.

So, if someone wants to hotlink they have enough time to view the wmv's, think it's cool it's wmv then go hotlink to it. For them their hotlink will work if they put the links up < 60 minutes from the last time they viewed my page.

However, anyone that goes to their page and clicks on their link to my wmv will be sent to Yahoo (for now).

That concerns me 'cos being redirected to Yahoo indicates the hosts hotlinking measures are kicking in.

I use FireFox, but clicking my thumbs or anyone else's thumbs opens WMP by itself ans streams the video then plays it.

tiny, you are saying you cannot normally view WMV's?

GG, that is odd because you seemed to agree with this specifc layour unless I misunderstood your replies in the other thread I linked to here.

I hear ya about letting them get in easy. I'm coming around to that thinking.

A lot of people who run programs like NIS won't see any banners. I want text links for sure.

I mean Bling Bling Trials was just something I came up with when I was tired. It's a stupid site name to put down on Link Lists though.

I need to concentrate less on design and more on the practical workhorse aspect of free sites.

I learned a shitload and I'm really glad I posted here and on one other board.

Once this one is all done from now on they should flow nice and smooth 'cos I'm starting to "get it".

The title you give when you submit the site, more and more has to actually appear on the site, so yes, it's looking like Bling Bling Trials is your site name.

As far as the funny page goes, I don't know. It happens sometimes and I just move on
