Yahoo - the lights are on but nobody's home
I've got a domain free-tit-pics.com with which I've done nothing, and yet if I enter its name in yahoo it gives me a listing
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=htt...t&cop=mss&tab= On the other hand I've got a link list hadafew.com (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=htt...t&cop=mss&tab=)with 9000+ links which has been around since 2000 and although they list 300+ subsidiary entries they don't give me as much as a sniff. What's up with these people? Last edited by eman; 2004-09-13 at 03:13 PM.. |

It's a pretty well known effect by now.
For some reason yahoo decided that many linklists are 'link farms' and have banned them. A very few bigger linklists have gotten thru that filter, and many if not most big TGPs, for inexplicable reasons, seem to get thru the filter too. |

![]() one nice thing about yahoo tho is they actually read the responses to the how do you like these search results etc at bottom of search page...since they are still tweaking i guess, my sex chat came up at #1 free sex chat and actually has a chat lol and real people and they developed a community quick, and then got bounced by bs sites that just redirected to friendfinder so me and 20 surfers complained to yahoo and i have been 1-5 for 9 month +

eman - the email response I got after a review for my LL was "link farm" - kinda weird but I think it has to do with how many recip links you put on your index/root page - but I guess Ill never know for sure - do you do ok in the directory search?

Do you have any speculations on why TGPs get thru the "link farm" filter Linkster?
Do you figure the "link farm" filter is manually applied? |

Bill - the tgps have a lot of outgoing links - with "different type" sites recips - what I mean is that the recips are with a different structure type site - the recips arent other linksites - wheras the LLs that have a lot of trades on their index page tend to be closely associated sites (very similar) - if we were to just link say the "new" free sites we list every day on the index page, we would probably get around the "ban"
I base that on the LLs that have made it into Y - they all seem to have very few - if any recips to other LLs on their index pages The problem with all of this is that I know of at least one major LL that doesnt have a single recip'd LL trade on their index page and they arent making it in either As far as manually applied filtering - I would say that for the sites that typically rank in the top 1-40 positions for very major adult keywords are looked at manually - best evidence I have is that if you look at the results for some of them and you will see a selected group always appear - some sort of Yahoo "safelist"?? The funny part about it though is that the list looks a lot like Yahoo looked right before they started using Google results a while back ![]() added - I also know of a case where a major LL originally wasnt in the Yahoo listings but has recently started appearing - so maybe as they move into a more automated mode and trust their ranking algo things will change? |
