Selling Domains - Any Experience?
I have some domains that I think are valuable and might be interested in selling them. Where? How do I find a "reasonable" value?
Here's my main 3 to sell: WildWhores.com FroshParty.com CumChokers.com Should I go to Sedo or whatever it is called? Should I just post on various boards and let the BS begin? Any advice is appreciated.  |

I would mention domains for sale in your sig and link it to a page with info.
And I wouldn't even discuss it in a thread like this personally. Unless you are posting a killer domain.. people cant seem to help posting how little it's worth to them. I'm one of those guys who doesn't like negotiating and just wants to know the sticker price. I'm sure that there are plenty of others out there like me. I'd just say suchandsuch.com is for sale for $whateverprice. But like Opti said, in forums you just end up defending the value.
My father buys pigeon shit covered antiques at auctions for a few bucks and displays them proudly in his shop. I tell him that they're shit and then he sells them the next day for $300. That's how domain names are. Shit to one guy and gold to the next.

Good point guys thanks. I'll make up a page then.
A domain is worth whatever someone sees in it I suppose. FroshParty for example could be the next CollegeFuckFest if marketed right and the term has very little competition in the SEs. For me I don't need the money but like everyone I would like it. Meaning I won't be selling a domain for $100, what's the point? I never bought them to sell them so I'd just keep it and put a few links to it and make that or more each year from it. |

I agree with everything said thus far. You could also add them for sale on www.sedo.com and www.afternic.com. If you want to pay for domain appraisals, www.fastdomainsales.com are respectable (a domain appraisal for those domains would probably not help you though). There are plenty more places which offer appraisals and markets for selling. Put a quick search in for domain auction and domain appraisal. I'm a platinum member of www.dnforum.com. If you want me to post an ad in their adult section, just let me know. I've sold a few this way. I could act as domain broker, no charge. Alternatively, you could join yourself. I think platinum membership is 50 bucks. |
