Product Advertising In Recip

What the fuck? Is it just me, or is it astonishingly annoying to for a TGP to place a product ad in their recip button? Take a look at Jpegworld's recip on this gallery - http://www.daily-xxx-porn.com/tgp/an...njali/135.html
I have rejected many submissions for that damned recip already. It's not fair to the submitters at all, but I just don't like it. Am I being an ass about this?

That particular gallery was doomed anyway, due to the hpa.

I have to agree with you on this UW. My main activity is publishing galleries. I don't feel it's fair that a TGP should put product placement in their recips, after all we are providing their "site filler".

It seems very greedy, or maybe this fellow wasn't making enough off of his affialiate program, so he felt the need to step over the lines what it deemed fair.

Have to hand it to the TGPs that do that though, very crafty, their product is getting seen at two other sites, lots of exposure.

Yeah, it would be cool to go back to just button recips, but then you have to deal with cheap assholes who serve it off of your site. Maybe a way to counter this would be to make a rule on your sites (make an agreement with your other TGP friends), saying that galleries containing recip links that contain advertising to actual products instead of other TGPs will get the boot.

I can't locate who it is but when I was TGPing, a fairly large TGP did something similar and I just took them off my submit list.

It would appear that a recip like this would count as an 1 of the outgoing sponsor links and 1 of the recip links.

thumbzilla has that thing where you can get an preferred submitter account with them if you have a thumbzilla sponsor banner at the top of your page. i guess its not too much different. you can either use the recip or sponsor banner and submit or not use it and not submit.

i personally dont like any recip with more than one (1) link in it. but i still submit to lots of places with 2 outgoing links in the recips. what can you do?...

When we ran Mommabig, we had a nice recip that did the same thing a few years ago. We thought it was the best marketing idea to come along in a long time. We did change it once we thought about it a bit

Actually, I think I was using that ugly MommaBig recip on some free sites & galleries that I was listing on my own sites & then when we decided that we needed a nice recip table, we copied it from one of my pages without even thinking about the sponsor links that were i it - I think there were 5 - LOL

But yes, once we realized what we had done, we changed it

I certainly can't argue with the marketing sense of it. Who isn't looking for new ways to generate capital? But the recip area of any page is holy land, blessed by all the gods. I view it similar to those especially scenic strips of histroic rural highway where there are laws against the erection of billboards.

Something to think about is that with a few TGPs - not as many as there used to be that did this, it was worth it to me and quite a few other submitters to use their sponsor recips as the listings were always top-notch and generated a much better sales ratio on the tgps traffic. It was a give-take thing back then that actually worked quite well

Of course now with the paid listings (that didnt exist back then) and groups of tgps that sell their sponsorships it doesnt seem to be that good of a biz model anymore (but I may be wrong )

There are quite a few large TGP's also that require a recip link that points to a sponsor or product. With these TGP's I submit a gallery with their recip only.
