![]() Hey there, im confused!
![]() I am running wordpress for several blogs. They all have a plugin installed called shortstat that gives me a live stats report. I have a couple of niche blogs, and a couple mishmash blogs. The niche blogs pick up okay traffic and when i look at shortstat it tells me how many raw, unique and rss hits I have had. The RSS on the niche blogs always have many hits. However on my other blogs I am getting hits to the page...but the RSS count always says zero. Is it because the blog is of no interest? Does the blog suck? Or would it be the way I have set up the blog or shortstat? What Is this RSS Hit in reference to? Someone selecting or using my RSS feed? I am using 'subscribeme' plugins for my feeds Im not sure if this would interfere too much. Anyone have any Idea? Will this affect my traffic at all? |

There are a lot of reasons your RSS feed sees a hit. Many the places on your "ping" list will spider your feed after you ping them. It could be people "tagging (or bookmarking if you prefer) your feeds and then visiting through the feed. Places that list your feed after being pinged will show up on the feed hit list if someone clicks on something they saw on say technorati or their myyahoo.
So the question is, are you doing the same thing on the "mishmash" blogs. Have you submitted them to all the same services? Are you pinging all the same places? Is the mishmash blog different or does it have the same or similar content? Just to many variables to say whether you mishmash blog sucks or not. |

Thanks for the info on feed hits, walrus! I was wondering about that myself.
