Reduce .gif KB's
I thought this free tool might help some other noobs. Some banners have a huge file size which can be reduced thereby saving bandwidth. A few thousand KB's here and a few there can really add up. Here it is:
http://www.gifworks.com/cgi-bin/gifw...m=transfer_get At the site, click "File", then click "File Open" Are you sure you wish to exit this session of gifworks? Click "Yes" Click "Browse" Find the image on your hard drive and double click it Click "Upload Image" When the image appears, click "Optimize", then click "Reduce Colors" The resluts will be your gif image with more and more colors removed Scroll down until you see an image that is smaller in KB's but still looks good. At the bottom you can click "Click Here To Reduce Further" if you think the image can take more reduction and still look presentable. When you have an image selected, right click and click "Save Picture As" You can give it the same name as the original and let it copy over the original or you can give it a totally new name. I've been using this tool for years and can't calculate the BW I've saved over the years. WARNING: DON'T OVERDO IT! Be judicious when using this tool. There's a fine line between saving BW and having a crappy looking banner! Hope this helps a few newbies! ![]() |
