Link Script - Beta Question
Hi fellow peeps
![]() I have a question for you regarding a link script I am beta testing right now (3rd party not my script). There is something I would like some feedback on with one of the functions (features) of it. There is something called an Access List which is a file you configure before uploading or via FTP file edit that allows a webmaster to enter in specific IP address(s) for those who will access the admin section only. However, not everyone has static IP's and this could result in accessibility to the admin. The makers of this script say it gives the option to the webmaster to use this or not, but states that if you don't, you initially lose some security unless you enter in your IP address in this file. If you decide no, you get a nice note saying "security warning" ...although you can configure it to not show. So...here is my poll: |

I'd say that if you or your reviewers don't have static IP's, then you should probably not use the script because they tell you right up front that it's not secure unless you do use it.
I can see their point, but as someone that does not have a static IP, it bugs me when these things happen. |

I agree....they said the function/feature is well received. I said its great to see they are after security, but I think they got lost along the way in thinking about this one. There are a few other beta testers on this script but haven't said anything about this. Anyways, time to get back to testing this thing...so far it looks like it would be best suited for link sites but not for link directories.
