Help Link List Questions
I am working on my first ever freesite, it is going well (I think) but I read somewhere once and silly me forgot to bookmark it... What is the general rule about adverts and outgoing links?
Example: Index: Has my enter sign, say 12 links to link lists and an enter. How many banners and text links would be acceptable to sponsors. Main Page: Gallery One, Gallery Two would 3 banner & or text links be okay (combined total) Gallery one and two: Two banners each okay? Does your 2257 rule count as a link, please point me in the right direction. Thanks Tina

3 ads/outbound links max on each page is the standard rule. 2257 doesn't count as a link. Good luck!

The recip table isn't included in the max links/page rule.
Try starting out with 12 recips on each mirror. Some go as low as 6 and if the table is neatly done you may get away with as many as 20, but I wouldn't recommend it to a newbie FS builder.

Generally every link list and link directory will have their own sets of rules...some will be similar to others, My suggestion would be to visit the ones that interest you and review each submission's guidelines and then you can start building your sites with that knowledge. I know many have built sites and then tried to submit them only to be rejected before they had a good idea of what each one requires. Even spending some time checking out the various sites link sites have listed in their categories. That will help determine what was accepted by them.
Overall, you should be able to establish a baseline of things to do and what not to do. I know with my directory, we've kept it similar to many of our colleagues. |
