Getting a little cold here :)

Our power has been on and off since yesterday. It's 22 degrees outside and the amount of time our power is on isn't long enough to heat the house. Now, we just heard that our village power station is going to be shut down for 6 hours this afternoon and evening.

We pay about 1/3rd the price of people in the villages next to us because our village buys electricity in bulk. But damn...with the power going off as often as it does, it is almost not worth the savings.

All 3 fireplaces are fired up and at least keeping a few rooms warm. Our dogs are all huddled around one of the fireplaces.

I can relate! Our power went off AGAIN between 4am and 5am this morning. We don't have any fireplaces, and it was in the low 20's high teens last night. We have a propane space heater that we dragged into the shower stall of our master bedroom, turned it on, shut the door and we stayed pretty warm until we got up at 8am. We are lucky, 1/2 our windows face south, so once the sun is up, if we open up all our drapes it really helps on heat.

We have power now as of 11am, and internet right away thankfully, but I'm getting really tired of the power going up and down. We were off a lot of Saturday too.

Stay warm!

It's 35 here today (Houston area). From what the locals tell me, that's pretty unheard of. I grew up in Northern California where it gets MUCH colder in the winter but damn if I haven't gotten used to the heat of Texas. I'm down right cold today!

It's 81F here but I may crank the A/C down tonight whilst I make a fire in the fireplace later on when some company comes over.

This is one of the warmest winters here that I can remember which makes me wonder if this hurricane season will turn out to be one the worst ever.

10 years ago yesterday Houston had some ice. Lots of it. I had to be at the convention center to set up a show. It was not a fun ride getting there.

I'm NE of Htown and today it's been a mix of rain and sleet. Good thing we only have a couple days of this. I hate cold weather.

Power is on again but who knows for how long. I took a drive by the village sub station and there is a large flatbed truck there with a giant transformer looking thing loaded on. I have a bad feeling about this
