Very New & Very LOST

I'm a first time webmaster - and I have a number of potentially embarassing newbie questions.

Thumbnail galleries - I read where a lot of TGP's say you can only post the gallery you're submitting, once. Does that only apply if the gallery is actually posed on the main page - or does it mean whether on not its posted regardless? I see a lot of them say you can get banned very easy - so that makes me ask! Also - How long should a newbie plan on getting the "newbie" treatment at TGP's? Everyone's been telling me that most places make you "pay your dues" and make you submit for a month or two before you're even considered.... Or is content the only concern?

Now, Is there a place I can check online that lists different TGP's? I have 2 amateur BBW sites that are looking for TRAFFIC!! I've submitted to a few that I've found (who accept them without a membership or some sort) - but if anyone wants to name drop any sites I may not know about.

One last newbie question... I haven't established an affiliate program yet. I've heard that you should wait to do affiliates until your site has gained solid traffic. Is there any truth behind that?

Yeah - I told you I was new!

HELP

Hi BlueBuddha and welcome!

About TGP's: Not really sure what is your question... Galleries are submitted to TGP's according to the rules of TGP. Reviewers decide if they'll post it on TGPs or not. You should not try to post the same gallery twice to the same TGP. As for "newbie treatment" - it varies from TGP to TGP. If you make good galleries and TGPs don't have enough quality submitters, your galleries will be welcome.

Traffic sources: http://www.greenguysboard.com/resour...fic/index.html

Paysites: You should wait for a while until you get more experience with adult sites. And it isn't about amount of traffic - you need the good adult webmaster knowledge before starting investing into this biz.

I would recommend you to start with building free sites. It's a bit easier to handle than galleries. The good thing is that you are at the right place for free site building info. Read this board, build a site or two and post here for review. You'll get lots of good info which will be enough to get you started.

Good luck!

Welcome BlueBuddha!

Regarding affiliate programs.... I've heard several differing opinions about the best time to approach this end of your website... I will say that the one piece of advice that I have always been given is to make sure that you can offer webmasters something unique, something that will make you stand out from another site... whether that be payouts, content, etc.

With so much out there in adult online, it's definitely tough to make sure your product stays top of mind with webmasters... but it's not impossible! You can learn a lot here on the boards, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Best of luck to you!

and to add to what johnnybg and docholly stated, don't assume anything. Ask questions, no matter how newbie they seem to you. The only way to learn is to ask.

From what I read you are saying that you already own two BBW paysites? As far as promoting them I would definitely take the advice here and start making free sites (instead of tgp galleries) to start with.

There is a much better conversion rate on the free sites, you will get accepted faster (especially if you get yourself known around here) and there are a few experts on that niche that are moderators on this board including the king of BBW traffic in the biz (Mr MaryLou - who runs that Saturday chat session that was mentioned earlier)

You found the right place for your questions and as already said- make sure you ask them - of course the search feature here works extremely well too

As far as the affiliate program part - my old rule of thumb is that once you have your own traffic building part down pat and take a look at your retention rates is when to start looking at that - until you have those numbers you would be doing ourself a disfavor by opening it up to affiliates

Myself, and a couple of others around here started with paysites. I was always able to generate targeted traffic- the kind of stuff that converts 1:100. Now, 8 years later, I am learning how to generate higher quantities of traffic, which often means less focused, and more reliant on the goodwill of others. If Blue Buddah already has bbw paysites, he may be in the same position.

An affiliate program will not make you rich, but it will open some doors, and potentially bring in some extra sales. It will also close some doors to you, so don't do it at the detriment of what you are already doing. You don't need to have any existing traffic for it, but having your own marketing strategy firmly in place before opening it to others is a good idea.

Take the time to learn the tgp and freesite game at your leisure. It's not going to put much money in your pocket overnight, so you can afford to do take the time to do things right.

Good luck!

Ok - here's my story....

My wife had her own site through a company that started screwing her out of her cut. Instead of tossing everything down the drain I decided "Hell, I can do this" and bought my own camera, studio stuff - rebuilt her site - got hosted - setup CCbill (smart, right?? lol). During this process I stumbled upon another model - so she joined us and we now have her site posted as well (madisonmanson.com / lizziedevill.com). The scary thing is I have a third lined up to start shooting for her site as well. Im WAY in over my head - but think I can pull it off with a little direction.

So now I need to learn how to be a webmaster!

As far as starting with free sites - I sadly dont even know what that means or what they are! Yes, Im that new.... ; ) I've heard the name before dealing with TGP's - but never knew what it meant.

The ONLY advertising Ive done is submitting to TGP's - its all I really know to do right now. I've been informed on the affiliate programs - but I really dont think I'm quite ready for that until I learn a little more about this business.

I've looked for an Adult Webmastering for Dummies book, but sadly its not in their catalog.

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me in!!
