Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

What a vicious cycle. As laughable as arming Sadaam Hussein to attack our then vicious enemy of Iran. Hussein used those same weapons against Kuwait.

In 1953 the British asked the US for assistance in overthrowing the democratically elected Iranian nationalist Mossadegh. Britan didn't want him to throw the oil company, which eventually became BP, out of Iran. He was going to re-nationalize the oil industry, pay Britan for their refineries and toss them out. The CIA chased Mossadegh into exile and tossed in a puppet government led by the Shah of Iran. This guy, a dictator, brought his people to eventually overthrow him and install the Ayatollah. If that wasn't enough to piss Iranians off, you had Donald Rumsfeld visiting Iraq in the 80's selling Saddam Hussein weapons to use against them.

If there are high ranking officials in the US military unwilling to storm into Iran then my hats off to them. There are a lot of people in Washington whose children will never see war, just cocktail margaritas and swimming pools. These people are willing to set the world on fire for their own personal gain and legacy.
