I hope the American Greens turn him down. They have a fine candidate in Cynthia McKinney.
Green parties are supposed to be grassroots parties, as soon as a "celebrity" player shows up though, it's top down decision making just like the main parties, and it's not worth bothering with anymore.

When he ran in 2000, his big claim was that there would be no difference between Bush and Gore. If he has the same message, enough people will see how wrong he was and slowly but surely, he will get less and less votes.

I see CNN & others picking up on it, and they're pretty much blaming him for Iraq.

If he hadn't run there would probably not be a war in Iraq, and a whole lot of casualties to go with it.

Say what you like, his criticisms of the two parties and their policies are true enough.

Exactly. Like some famous guy once said, "I'd rather vote for what I want and not get it, than vote for what I don't want, and get it."

In Canada we've got the Conservatives and the Liberals, very much like the Republicans and the Democrats, and one or the other is always in power. We've also got the NDP which used to be a socialist party, the BQ, a Quebec separatist party, and the Greens.

All of the parties except the Greens have seats in Parliament, so all have at least a minimal say in what goes on there.
I've been in the Greens since '82, and the NDP continually accuses us of "splitting the left vote", even though by Canadian standards we are not a left wing party.

Point is that the status quo parties will always try to stamp out any group that threatens their position by offering a little more democracy.

Anyone who voted for Nader in 2000 were never going to vote for Bush or Gore. Al Gore supported his wife in her attempts to not only censor music lyrics but trying to force record companies, by economic boycott, to eliminate extreme rap and metal music groups from the record companies group of artists. He made numerous speeches about the moral decay of adult entertainment and in Tennessee urged the hopeful destruction of adult material on the internet. Al Gore supported the harassment of adult companies by individual states and stated that the communities should be able to regulate the receiving of adult material by the US Mail. Challenging these restrictive state laws was never a priority during the Clinton Administration. Supporting Clinton, Al Gore also stated that Saddam Hussein was the greatest enemy to world peace in 1998. Al Gore is a fraud. Frank Zappa, before he died, had mounted a huge campaign in California, against Al Gore when he was Vice-President.
The two party system in this country is a farce, especially since the very structure of a undemocratic practice has never been challenged by the Democrats and the Republicans, and that is the electoral college. There is no true proportional representation in our system. Hell, Democrats and Republicans in California are still trying to destroy the initiative ballot process, which is the closest measure of voter desires. Pegasus, the pig, should be brought back as a Presidential candidate. He was the shining example of political integrity.

Damn straight Motorhead!

Also, the best candidate the American Greens have had running for president was Jello Biafra. Unfortunately, he didn't win.

I'm not sure America is ready for a president who's famous for songs like"Holiday in Cambodia," "Kill the Poor" and "Too Drunk to Fuck." It might have been interesting to see Schwarzenegger use "California Über Alles" when he ran for Governor and somebody needs to tell those "Nazi Punks Fuck Off!"

Can you guess I was a Dead Kennedys fan in 1980?

I voted for Jello Biafra. Not only was I a fan of the Dead Kennedys, but also Black Flag, Fear and Suicidal Tendencies.
