Has Google Dropped DMOZ as a partner?.

I'm just looking at my results here and some sites that used to show up with dmoz directory info under them are no longer doing so.

I'm wondering if :

A) It's far too early to say.

B) maybe they are keeping DMOZ info for increased relevance behind the scenes as my positions have not changed.

C)They have stopped using DMOZ alltogether.

D) I simply have no fricken Idea

IMO, DMOZ needs to be wiped off the face of the earth. They are a cesspool of corruption, hypocrisy, and spam. If google were smarter they'd realize all of DMOZ's adult links are pure spam and drop them altogether.

If you look at the very bottom of AOL searches they offer DMOZ cats.

Some Creep, I've not yet submitted anything Adult to DMOZ to date so I can't comment on that as I have no direct experience to draw upon.

As for Mainstream DMOZ I have had very good results from sites I have submitted.

The reason I started this thread is I noticed the Category text under the results in the serps was not showing the DMOZ info like it used too.

I guess any sytem that relies upon reviewers to give up thier time to review is going to have different review times results in each category dependant upon workload and the time the reviewer has to give.

DMOZ has been a major factor in me getting many top ten mainsteam keyword results that have stayed there for well over 18 months .

Yes, the real corruption and hypocrisy festers amongst the adult category editors. As far as mainstream, I've not dealt with that side of DMOZ, so I wouldnt know.

Your initial hostile attack to discredit my opinion and defend Dmoz was not worth my reply. If you want to take what I say as some newbie comment made by someone pissed off because they didnt get listed, that is fine. The truth is, I speak with much more experience than that. I have intimate dealings with Dmoz and their Meta editors, the details of which I would never post on a message board. Bottom line is anyone who is not a newbie or has dealt with Dmoz knows about their corruption.

I am also 'not a newbie' and I have 'dealt with Dmoz' and I can tell you for a fact that any 'corruption' has been dealt with long ago and the DMOZ of today is run by a very hard working group of editors and Metas.

I personally have spent hundreds of hours helping to clean up the directory to keep one step ahead of cheating adult webmasters who give us (adult webmasters) all a bad name. And there are other editors and Metas who have spent thousands of hours doing the same thing.

So if this corruption that you speak of really does exist, then stop ranting about it and report it here,

Your comments and attacks are exactly that of an ODP editor. Your bias is another reason I did not bother to reply to your comments. I am not calling any one meta editor or regular cat editor corrupt or hypocritical, as I dont know them all, but rather the entire DMOZ system as a whole is corrupt and hypocritical. I will not divulge my personal details and relationships with DMOZ, but how about you take a look at some of the DMOZ listings for "free sites" in different niches. Look at sites categorized under "A". Can you honestly say all those "Ababa Sex Girls" and "Aaba's Hardcore Sex" links belong at the very top of every "A" category? This is not an isolated incident regarding just one letter "A" listing in one niche. Look under every "A" for every free site in every niche. You will find "Aaaba/Abab/Abu" spam that just so happens to satisfy the rules and conditions for that category, according to the Meta editor that placed it there.

Move on to sites categorized under the letter "B". I see "Baab's Absolute Free Sex". Move on to "C". I see "Caan's Absolute Hardcore Porn" and "Caab's Sex Links". No matter what niche, or what letter you look under, there is spam placed by meta editors or other cat editors abusing their powers. So, are meta editors just not aware of this problem or perhaps there are just too many links to remove and re-edit? Of course not, there have been many threads in the ODP editor forums regarding this topic, but no change is made because it is in the best interest of the Meta editors to keep their listed sites exactly where they are.

And no, its not a few "bad apples" not doing what they are supposed to, it is vast majority of meta editors and regular cat editors abusing their powers turning DMOZ into shit.

So back to my original point and reason in making my first comment in this thread... Its fine if DMOZ wants to spam the hell out of their listings and abuse their powers all to hell, so long as other search engines like Google and AOL dont use their shit listings.

I expected more from your reply. Did you read my post? I just backed up all of my comments with facts. The listings themselves are the facts. Are you saying you dont see the spam I am talking about? Must I post every DMOZ category link with spam in it for you to see?

Also, do you understand that asking to post at resource-zone.com is part of the hypocrisy I am talking about?

The meta editors that read those forums will justify their listed spam as satisfying category rules and that will be the end of the discussion. Also, if you are an ODP editor, then certainly you are already aware that you dont just become an editor and start deleting listings made by other editors because you think they are spam. That is not the way things work at DMOZ.

A free link is a free link. The fact the links are propogated through the 'net and many versions of the database are out of date cannot be changed.
