![]() I signed up with them and got my link code, but it seems to be sending the surfers to the affiliate join page.
http://www.mp3dollars.com/b.asp?id=1...llars/btob.asp Is it just redirecting me for some reason or do they have things screwed up on their end? |

Link out of Whack
Cleo,
Sorry for the service problem. I have changed your status and your links should now be going to the consumer site, www.MP3DownloadHQ.com. It is a new system and there are a few glitches, like the one you had. It should be fine now, and when you log into MP3Dollars to get your creative, you will now see the correct versions that link to our MP3/P2P Help site, MP3DownloadHq.com. You will also get 60% on all sales until the end of the year as our Special Launch Bonus. Thanks for giving us a shot and being patient with us. We appreciate the feedback. Let me know if there are any other irregularities that you have found. We have signed up 225,000 subscribers in the past year and now we we want to spread the wealth around a bit.

Well since you asked…
I almost gave up on trying to join your program since I couldn't get past the Agree to the Affiliate Agreement since clicking on agree does not check the box when using Mozilla. I guess Mozilla doesn't like the JavaScript or something. I had given up, but then decided to give it a try in IE and it worked. PS: Thanks for the bonus, off to grab some codes. ![]() |

Cleo,
Thanks for the patience and perserverance. I really thank you for not giving up on us. I am having my developer check into the Mozilla issue. What version were you using? We have the "I Agree" link at the bottom of our Agreement pop up on the advice of our attorney. The box doesn't become checked until the new affiliate hits the "I agree" link at the bottom of the Agreement Pop Up page. This is so an affiliate can't say, I didn't see that or I didn't agree to that. Our attorney is a F***ing stickler on stuff like that. Since MP3's and P2P Software is such a hot issue and there are alot of lawyers looking at stuff on our site constantly (we ARE 100% LEGAL IN EVERY WAY), we have to go to great lengths to make sure that they are satisfied. I have a little experience with sticky legal issues and making a profit from them. I co-founded MrSkin.com, and recently resigned to get into more mainstream channels. We also are making a change in the MP3Dollars signup page to include checkboxes that allow you to identify which market you are primarily marketing to. Either directly to consumers (B2C - 50% direct sale commission) OR primarily to webmasters as part of your 2nd tier (B2B - 7% to 10% 2nd Tier commission). This will make it easier for affiliates to track how well they are doing on both sides of the coin. It will also give each type of affiliate access to their own set of creative, designed to sell to the market segment they designate. Oncer again, thanks for becoming an affiliate. Let us know if you find anything else.

I'm using Mozilla 1.5, it is basically Netscape without the stuff that AOL adds in.
Yeah clicking the I agree link doesn't check the checkbox on the main page, probably affects Netscape users too. I'm not a lawyer and don't even play one on TV, but I think just a regular checkbox should be enough. That is how everyone else does it anyway. You may want to think about the page resizing code that you have on the page that surfers are taken to. Most find it really annoying. I know I sure did while I was testing my links. Anyway I've got all your ads up so lets see how they do. ![]() |

Thanks for the heads up, we are looking into it.
As far as the resizing of the page when you get to MP3DownloadHQ.com, we tried it the other way (no resize) and sales went down. So we switched it back and sales went back up. Can't explain it other than we have alot of newbies sign up and they think it is the only screen they have, just a guess. All I know is it works. As for the I agree link. We can add it to the top of the page that pops up as well, but then it leaves someone an out, that they weren't "forced" to read it. I agree with you, that it is inconvenient. I will ask our lawyer if we can make the change to make signing up a little easier. Thanks again and I look forward to any other comments, suggestions or just outright bitching you might have. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. ![]()

First, welcome to GreenguyandJim, Mr. MP3
![]() Second, Cleo will find a problem with any website using some browser. If it's not mozilla, it will be some obscure browser where .001% of the web is using it ![]() |

Wow my link list stats shows a lot more then .001% of the web is using it.
MS Internet Explorer (Versions) 89.8 % Netscape (Versions) 6.1 % Unknown ? 2.5 % Opera 0.9 % Konqueror 0.1 % WebTV browser 0.1 % That breaks down to Mozilla/3.xx 0.8 % Mozilla/4.xx 23.7 % Mozilla/5.xx 75.4 % Mozilla 1.5 shows up as Mozilla/5.0 in stats just to be extra confusing, lol. Like this Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Hmmm, I seem to be in the 3.2% in my stats as far as OS used. Windows XP 49.1 % Windows 98 22.2 % Windows 2000 11.6 % Windows Me 8.2 % Mac OS 3.2 % Unknown 2.7 % Windows 95 1.4 % Windows NT 0.6 % Linux 0.5 % WebTV 0.1 % What I find more interesting is trends. Linux never even showed up in my stats before, but does now. Mozilla is going up slowly as is people using Linux and Mac. WebTV which was at one time used a lot now is almost dead. PS: It is great when sponsors come to the board. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I threw some banners and links up at my links list to see if I get any bites there.
But mostly I signed up to use it on the domain that I send all my free site exit links to. I've been wanting to do something with it since it was nothing more then some Amazon ads and I basically hadn't touched it in years. This seemed like about as good as anything, lol. So now it is still a one page domain with a huge ad for Mr. MP3. ![]() Yeah it should be interesting to see how this does with porn traffic. |

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.
|
Nickname - as far as getting listed on DMOZ - it really depends on how you design the site - if it's all just affiliate ads and that is the main purpose of the site(which is what it sounds like if you want a domain with MP3 in it) then its gonna be real tough to get in the directory
On the other hand, if you do a site that gives some value to the surfers and the advertising is secondary - then its definitely worth a shot ![]() Not answering for the sponsor here - but I doubt that they have a patent or copywrite on the term MP3 (actually Im thinking about patenting the technology of playing songs into the human ear) so you should be fine with any domain that has the terms ![]() |

Linkster is correct. We do not in any way hold a trademark on the term MP3 or Download only the combination as used in our domain name and company name. Any combination you want to buy that does not use our full name, MP3DownloadHQ in the name is fine with us. In fact encouraged, may I suggest a few that are open right now:
mp3musicsales.net nakedmp3.net downloadmymp3s.com mymp3locker.com mp3s4me.net mp3easydownloads.com As for the dmoz stuff, you folks are probably much better at it than we are. As for the program selling to porn audiences. Exit traffic, definitely the place to start. We have some 600x400 creative that has been doing well on a few sites that we test on. Our core market is the 300M users that have downloaded Kazaa , Morpheus and the rest of the P2P field, and the hordes of others who just want to have it explained to them before they take the plunge into online music downloads through Peer to Peer. We have FAQ'a and tutorials on over 15 of the most popular file sharing applications out there. Many new users of these apps haven't a clue on what they are downloading and installing and we help them through it. We offer them e-mail support and the online knowledge base. Beyond that, they are free to download whatever they want (of course we do not support file swapping of copyrighted material, but the again, suing 15 year olds, isn't exactly the solution we need either). I hope this clears up a little bit of what we are about. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me or let me know through the board. I am glad to be a sponsor and look forward to getting feedback on the program and how we can improve it to increase conversions. Thanks again for giving us a shot, if more people download it than porn, how can it be wrong ![]() Mr. MP3

I'm a Mozilla user too - there's more of us than you might think, Jim. After all, pop-ups are an occupational hazard, and Mozilla has a very good built-in pop-up blocker.
