LOR submission question
I'm totally new at doing free sites, so I had a quick question. Is it acceptable to submit a free site built from sponsor content (obviously, only promoting that sponsor)? I'd like to push a new sponsor, but their niche is so specialized, that their content would obviously be more on-target than even I (as a content provider) could accommodate. The site would be on my domain, built by me, served by me and controlled by me, but the images would be watermarked with the sponsor's logo and is the free content given to affiliates for promotion purposes. Thanks a lot!

One more thing, if you don't mind: It says in the rules that you can't use a third-party counter, because basically you should be a real webmaster and get a real host. I have 2 dedicated servers, but would still prefer to have an invisible (i.e. no buttons) sexcounter on my front page. Is this permissable? If not, I would be curious why. If there's something serious I wasn't aware of, then I'll stop using them on any site.

And many link sites...mine included...don't allow any sort of java script on free sites. Frankly, I don't have the time to filter through java script code to figure out what it's supposed to do and there's just too many evil things that can be done with it ![]() |

The "real host" thing just means that your server has stats & you should be able to use those.
The counter rule is just because so many of them are truly annoying with hidden crap & whatnot. |

![]() My first server (the one with the free site on it) has an older stats program and doesn't give referral data, which is why I wanted something that did track referrers. I'll figure something out. Thanks again for the input! |

Also if you place the counter in a table it will take your page longer to load. The browser has to get the counter digits before it displays the page. That would scare away alot of the dial up users..
If your using a windows server I can recommend http://www.whoson.com as I use it. It's a little costly but for windows it's nice that it will auto block hack attemps in IIS. It also allows you to set what it calls "prospects", IE:You tell it anyone who goes to X page from a referal is a prospect. So it's easier to see who is sending you sign ups, etc. If you are using a Unix/Linux server then AWstats (free) is the only one I have used that I like and it will give you more info then you can shake a stick at. With nice shiny colors too. But either way there are a ton of free stuff out there. |
