Internext Anyone?

Been somewhat out of the biz for awhile now (working contract mainstream development) and was just wondering if anyone was going to Internext or if it is more of a place for sales reps and schmoozing now than a place to do biz and hook back up with friends/colleagues/businesses? I'm close enough to drive and was just considering it - but only want to go if it's worth the trip.

Anyone? It's definitely been awhile... hope everyone is doing well!

I'm going but I suspect a lot of people are not due to the decline in business over the last year.

If you are close enough to attend then it might be worth the drive. Hanging out at the bars is where you meet and talk with people. Te show itself is not all that good anymore.

Thanks Ramster... that's kind of what I was thinking. It's not like when we used to work the booths with CE/ANS and could chat with all the newbies, meet all the traffic gurus and get something out of the seminars. I really miss those days - but things change.

I really appreciate the input - I might just drive out for a 1-day deal and hang out @ the bars to see who I see and what I can do. Had a foot in adult still, but 90% of my dealings in the last couple of years have been mainstream - just wondering who's still out there and what's up.

True. I've always wanted to go to CES though. I considered going last year just for CES (since I haven't gone to an Internext in years), but then I felt like I would be "cheating" on adult by not going there too... so I didn't go to any - lol

How twisted is that? I do miss the old days though... the mass CE boob wars were a blast and the NatNet Suites - especially in New Orleans, that was awesome @ CyberNet...

Hey, tell me when you're going to one and I'll see what I can do about getting there - we need to get the old gang together sometime.

Still not sure if I'm going to Internext (or maybe the LA XBiz)... but hey, I'm so close to both locations and I'm working on this new project with MikeB so really thinking about getting "out there" again... I dunno... I kind of felt sort of like I did the whole "been there done that" with all the AWEs and stuff we did back in the day, but there's something to be said for networking and meeting the "new faces" of the biz and finding out what's new and has happened while I've been dipping my toes in the mainstream.

Last time we spoke you had talked about not going to future shows so really *I* dropped out because I thought *you* were dropping out. lol J/K Really, it wouldn't be the same without you guys there... I guess I have my answer. I'll have to stay tuned to GG&J to find out when you guys are heading out to another show in the future.

There are so many new people. It's hard to tell who's "just a rep" and who's someone I need to know. I think I need to go when I can have an experienced tour guide - I feel SO out of the loop.

XBiz in June/July is a really good show - I highly recommend it.

I was looking @ the pics MikeB had from last year's event and I actually recognized a bunch of people. Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely add that to my "consider in 2010" list - and, since it's Vegas, it's still just a 3 hour drive for us so not so bad.

I'll be there, as well as XBiz in Feb.
These shows will evolve. It just won't all happen overnight.

Well, now it seems I won't be able to go anyway - hub was unable to get the time off from work like he thought he could so we're stranded.

Going to definitely try again though for the XBiz show as was suggested. Thanks for all the info here - it really does help.
