Finally watched farenheit 911 lastnight and

if Bush truly is deposed by Kerry (fingers crossed for Americans), I wonder how responsible Michael Moore will be for there being a new President in the White House. What do you think?

I think it really depends on how much everyone knew about Bush and his reaction to / and involvement with 911. I managed to learn a lot last night. If I were an American citizen, my newfound information would surely make me vote for Kerry; it will truly be a sad day for America if Bush gets re-elected.

I suppose how much Farenheit 911 influences the American people depends on how much they / you knew prior to watching the film. If, like me, a lot of the info was new then it's possible that Michael Moore has helped Kerry get in office.

What do you think? I think Michael Moor is a great man and filmmaker. Do you think his film may have influenced a great many people in chosing Kerry over Bush?

I kind of hate to say this but I am sick of the propaganda on both sides. I did think it was a good movie but I do think it was more of a movie than a documentary.

Yeah, that's kinda Michael Moore's signature...the does "docu-dramas" not documentaries. Good filmmaker and I agree with his position, but you have to take him with a grain of salt.

Yep
I think it would have been better without the comentary. He really didn't need to say anything...just let the morons speak.

For example...when bush learned about the planes on 911 they should have just let the film played without the stupid, "Was bush thinking I should have picked better friends?" comments.

Moore's voice-over commentary is more than justified and is a technique present in 99.99 percent of most documentary (or docu-drama) films. The events unfolding visually were too compelling for us to prefer watching Moore talk into the camera.

I think the genius behind his filmmaking is the accessable style. He is a filmmaker concerned with getting the largest audience possible. Many people will not go to the cinema to watch a documentary, or buy / rent a dvd, for that matter. How many documentaries does the average american watch on his dvd player or at the cinema each year? Moore makes his documentaries entertaining on both the intellectual as well as the popcorn level. This ensures maximum exposure in getting his personal beliefs across.

Anyway, no one has answered the question. Do you think Farenheit will have an impact on the election result?

No
Republican Cocksuckers claim the film is 100% false and the more intelligent regular people were already voting for anybody other than bush. Of course there are those that are still undecided that might be influenced by a film. I don't get those people but, what the hell?

We can only hope it does. I doubt that many Bush supporters will ever see it, because no one wants to sit and be told how awfully wrong they are. But I do believe it will motivate many democrats and independents to vote who would not normally vote.

I watched the film a couple of weeks back and two things really stick with me. Bush and his dad own shares in United Defense, a major defencse contractor. So, they are currently profiting from this war, just as they did the first Gulf war.

The senior Bush still gets daily intelligence briefings, but meets often with the Bin Laden family and their representatives because of MUTUAL business interests. Scary.

Keep in mind, the typical American is not a truly political being. In my experience, Europeans are much more politically aware than we are of day to day politics. We only become interested when we realize our government is out of control. Which of course happens when you don't pay attention to the day to day actions of your representatives.

Films throughout history have been known to inflluence the masses.

However, in this case, I think it is more the dissemination of information, as opposed to any propoganda-style filmmaking, which is at the heart of my question. People make decisions based on information. The more information, the better our decision-making abilities. What I find interesting is if Moore has revealed hitherto unknown events which might have an impact on election results.

I hope so too.

I genuinely found Bush terrifying, more so than Saddham Hussein. This is, afterall, supposedly the most powerful man alive. Aside from the good reasons you've already given, I was shocked at his general mental / intellectual reasoning and decision-making ability. For instance, watching him arrive at the school and sit there reading some preschool book, whilst planes tore apart america, was surreal (so too thought his contingent, watching him all the while.) He is clearly a scheming, mentally-degenerative, tallentless man controlled by 1.4 billion dollars worth of greed (and his father).

He didn't touch on it in the movie, but in the book Dude Where's My Country? he urged people that believed what he was saying to try & swing just one Bush vote to the other side.

I did that with my wife's cousin's husband, who until next Tuesday, always voted Republican

That's good-going, dude, and probably not an easy thing to have done. I'll have to read Dude Where's My Country?. I almost wish I was an American so I could vote for Kerry. I'll be up all night watching the last minute polls and result.

One of my opinions on this that a great many Americans have not really taken the time to truly think about America today versus pre-Bush America.
I just hope the next president tells the new Homeland Insecurity people to can our color-coded 'threat indicator'. It's all shit. They should have created a color-coded 'hate indicator' to see how much more the world is disgusted with us now than before. At least that would have been an accurate assessment of our place in the world. I just know that if Bush is re-elected, we'll all wake up one morning to a live broadcast from the oral office in which George Bush claims that Poland has invaded us overnight and that we must prepare ourselves to fight back. "Polen hat mit Bomben gesprochen. Wir muessen mit Bomben antworten."

(I love comparing him to Hitler, and that is something I don't take lightly)

While it's sad to state- I think so...slightly.

In this election 'slightly' counts.

People who vote and primarily gets their 'news' from late night talk shows and E!, etc...

I like The History Channel quite a bit.

It's very interesting to hear audio from white house meetings and so forth.

Bill brought up

The Fog of War a while ago.

If you haven't seen that, I think you'd like it.

In general, as we become more advanced with technology and cell phones get better as video recorders we'll start to see all leaders getting caught in situations they'd rather not have public.

While I'm voting for Kerry I'm not happy about it.

PBS had a documentary on both Bush and Kerry and it didn't seem for either party. It followed a time line of their lives...

I concluded I wanted another choice.

Moore was scheduled to speak at one of the local colleges, the college backed out of the engagement (using the lame excuse that it was too close to the elections) The Students got together and raised the money to pay his fees and rent a place for him to speak (he donated his fees to a scholarship fund). Instead of speaking to a few thousand students he spoke to a sell out crowd of over 10,000 his message was register to vote (damn it) and vote Bush out. So yes Kristian I think he will have some impact with the 40 and under crowd. I recently had two conversations (one with my father and one with two old commercial fishermen) all three lifelong democrats and all three have the opinion that we have to ride it out with Bush because you can't change presidents in the middle of a war and they wouldn't budge on their opinions, it's gotten me to thinking our Senior citizens might screw this one up

Every part encourages people to reigster & vote for their party, unless you tried to register as a Democrat in Nevada

Ass Raping would be good for anyone voting for bush. It will give them a taste of what's to come if he is here for another 4 years.
