I just can't get into the grove today

I've added a few banners to my banner rotator but I feel like I'm running uphill today in the mud.

Between lack of sleep, wow construction workers like to start early, the layer of dust that is on everything even me, the smell of pipes being soldered, the very loud rock and roll oldies, the whine of screw guns, and my favorite the reciprocating saw which is always followed by a dust cloud of drywall dust.

I've made a Home Depot run already so I have Home Depot grim and copper pipe oxide all over my hands which I can't wash because my house has no water until the plumber is done.

I'm told that my kitchen will have drywall up today which should mean the end of the dust clouds is near. They still need to take a concrete saw to my kitchen wall so as to move the door that leads to the garage and the electrician then needs to cut all the holes in its ceiling for the recessed lighting so I guess I do have another week of dust.

I would do just about anything right now for a hot shower or at least to be able to wash my hands.

Only one thing to do…

I know what you mean, I'm forcing myself to do what needs to be done, but I have no motivation for anything today.

My groove is gooveless. Today, I am Grooveless Warrior. Stayed up late arguing with some schmuck on an inferior board, so now I'm beat. So far today I've managed to buy a few small sets of content, but I can't motivate myself to build. You know, I don't think Finnbear and I ever said anything directly to each other, but his loss has struck me harder than I would have imagined. I think that's why I find myself mired. You just know when someone good is gone.

Five trips to home depot yesterday.

Already went to Lowe's today to see what doors they have and to pickup some stuff that Home Depot didn't have. Found a Whirlpool stainless steel water dispenser which will match the rest of my kitchen appliances. Also found ceiling fans that I like there.

I never wear shoes in my house but I've had to start because the lime in the dust was eating my feet.

I went to U-Haul and bought $80 bucks worth of boxes and stuff to pack things with. Soon I will have to move into my new bedroom and then figure out where to put the contents of the rest of my house so that all the rooms can be tiled and knock down texture applied to the ceilings and walls. I guess I'm going to have a very crowded bedroom and patio. I always wanted two couches a few wall units and a dinning room table in my bedroom. I wonder if I could learn to sleep standing up?

I've decided that I'm going to learn how to paint. I've tried in the past and made a big mess but I figure that if I can teach myself how to code pages that I should be able to paint a room. Anyway I'll save over a grand by doing it myself which pays for my new bedroom set.

Guess I need to go back to Home Depot in a little bit to get the dimmer switches that only they sell and go look at their doors again. I'm having a very hard time finding a 30" outside door with a window in it that has enough room in it for a cat door.

Time for a break…

I strongly urge buying a very good trim 2.5" brush, do not try and save a few bucks on this, the better the brush the better the trim work will be.

The rest is just taking your time and doing it right the first time.

What does one look for so as to buy a very good trim 2.5" brush?

The rollers all look about the same.

I did buy primer since Jim the drywall dude told me that I should. Depending on how much ambition I have this evening I may go ahead and apply a coating to my bedroom this evening. I'm still picking out the paint. Speaking of paint I notice that bathrooms always seem to be painted semigloss, not sure why.

Semigloss is less permeable, more moisture and dirt resistant and easier to clean. They use it a lot in kitchens too.

Just don't buy the cheap brushes, and you should be okay. If you are using oil paints (not so common indoors, but sometimes you'll use oil base for certain kind sof wood trim) buy the most expensive brush on the rack, you'll be glad you did.

For latex paints, an $8-10 brush should be fine. Keep it clean and it will last for quite a while.
