Why isn't this guy flooded?

Hello,
A while back I read a message in one of Greenguy & Jim's boards, about a new site to submitt links to.
Here is the URL:
http://www.rogerlinks.com/cgi-bin/li...form&category=

I submitted a few links, they were accecpted right away. This guy doesn't even insist on a recip and there seems to be no limit on the daily number of submissions.

When I go back to this site I see my links along with a few others.
Nothing much there really, which makes me wonder, should I be sending my links to this guy? Everyone else seems to be staying away in droves.
Just doesn't seem normal, I thought any opportunity for exposure would be good and that a less demanding list would quickly fill up. This list hasn't grown at all, as far as I can tell.
Is there something I am missing in all of this?

Thanks again for all help.

Hard to say TB...perhaps the owner isn't really growing the list Sometimes in the search for a quick buck, people will start something...then when the $$$ doesn't flow in...they lose interest. Don't know if that's the case here...but I've seen it happen before...many times.

Having only recently opened my list to public submissions, I can tell you that there's a significant amount of work involved in starting a link site...and maintaining it. It becomes a labor of love to some extent...and requires constant nurturing to grow...BIGGER...and BIGGER

O.K. let me clarify that.
This guy accepts all submissions within minutes. You get a clean e-mail confirming your listing, and then a little while later another e-mail asking you if you could put a recip on your page.
It's fast and your link is there.
I have checked my server stats and it's even sending me some hits.

I have submitted three links and all three played out this way.

This not an abandoned ship. The crew is on board and responding very fast.

My question is: why is no one sailing this ship?

Lets say you submitt to a link list and the list goes stale or dies, so???

There is absolutly no risk. As far as I know.

So why isn't this guy expanding his list exponentialy?

In 2 weeks I have not seen another submission to the category I submitted to.

I have absolutly no vested interest in this site, this is merely a puzzled newbie thing.

Why is everyone ignoring this list?

Is there a risk I don't know about?

I thought that making money on the web was all about maximizing your exposure.

Thanks for all your patience with Mr. Newbie and thanks for all of your opinions.

OK, I'll ask the $64K question. Is the site sending you any traffic? I'd guess he's sending you very little, based on his Alexa ranking (over 200,000), Google PR of his pages, and the IN/OUT numbers on his "Most Popular" list. There's not much point in signing up for a directory that's not going to send you much traffic.

I think maybe he launched his site unprepared (site had very less or not at all original traffic to begin with) counting solely on the surfers coming to the site curtesy of his recips? From what I noticed submitters quickly loose interest when the return traffic isn't good. I can see why that is, but I think it's a better policy not to jump offboard that quicly. Send your freesites for a couple of months. It doesn't take that long to submit your FS to one more LL. You never know when those guys will be pushing heavy traffic into the site (maybe they're just waiting to have a decent archive) and when the site gets to grow. And then the owners will most likey be thankfull to the guys which sticked with them in the hard times and you'll end up having better listings then the new guys.

Especially in this cas where you said they were reviewing and adding like mad. Me for one I added their site in my database (just noticed their post yesterday) and I plan to submit to them for a while, see what happens. And even a few hits may count... you never know where the lucky one is hidden.

My oppinion.

It could be, maybe this is just a part time thing for him? Or maybe he has many other projects going, he does'nt get time to promote this one. Would guess he is not promoting the site for submits, who knows why. Guess if you get listed and get traffic, thats what counts..

And as said, many, many times, just because a list sends tons of traffic, dont mean it's good traffic. I've had little places send me sales...

Kids are great, Appu. You can teach them to hate the things you hate and they practically raise themselves now-a-days, you know, with the internet and all

i was one of the original sites listed on rogers links and have had no real concerns, mind you im a noob myself. i have noticed from time to time his site seems down or there is a problem with his scripts as i cant load his site with my referral linking code.

tb, when you say he responds to your submissions right away its not actually him but a script he runs. It's all automated. And the reason you dont have to place a link on your site is Rogers Links is a bit of a toplist. The more traffic you send to him the more traffic you get in return through better exposure. Being a toplist its more geared towards TGP's and Link Lists, not galleries and 'free sites'.
