Custom recips and custom text?
Some of us know about the many benefits with custom text recips, for both LL owners and submitters, not least of which is variation in links.
However, I always thought you big LL owners, who are much better at this seo game than a lowly newb like me, made your recips to target specific keywords. But, if ya'll don't mind when I vary the superficial stuff, like color, table, etc, can I also vary the anchor text, as long as it's catagory appropriate? Would I annoy anyone? Or would I be wasting my time swapping out a few phrases here and there in my recip tables, when I should be focusing on text throughout the rest of the site? RawAlex and MrYum make a couple points here: http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...d.php?p=269602 |

Arghhhh...submit yer sites ya ruddy swabs!

Already stated my opinion in the other thread, but just to re-iterate for those that don't wanna click. Yes, I prefer custom recips and mixing up the anchor text a bit is a fine idea
The key here is to keep it relevant to the category. Look around the page...use synonyms...drop off or add a word here or there. It doesn't need to be a huge change, just some variety |

BUT, I was submitting to Lemmy today ( hi Lemmy ) and I noticed one of his rules that I think is a good idea. For those of us that don't require category specific recips, if you make custom recips for everyone and add everyone else's category link, seems like a good idea to add a category link even for those of us that don't require it. Just a thought that would win points with some LL owners. |

As for myself, as long as I'm being treated the same as the rest of your table and the text is relevant I'm happy.

well, I've just been stripping recip tables. I had no idea that LLs wanted us to make their recips for them now
Seriously, I figured stripping tables was the best way, that way I left in any title tags the owner had put in. Plus I thought that a bit of work must have gone into the design/wording of the recip table, I keep text pretty much intact thinking I'm respecting that work. LOL Jel, I think this is a good example of why you should go back & read a LLs rules once in awhile (hint hint folks ). Took me a bit too, but I saw that & I figure if a LL owner really wants me to alter a general recip to a niche, they will say something, either in the rules or an email - whatever. If Lemmy (or anyone) does prefer to have a niche on their recip, no problem! BUT let me know, please otherwise I figure it doesn't matter to you. ok, now I'm going off to alter some recips... Useful info here Thanks! I was so careful not to alter anyone's anchor text and title text. Figured people were trying to target very specific SE terms. Sure, mixing up and varying text is good SEO nowdays, but you never know what others think about that. Thanks for clearing it up

Custom recips are definitely also cool in my book as long as they carry some of the keywords I use in my regular recips. I love seeing alternative recip tables, the variety keeps you going at full speed when reviewing.
