New link list .. in need of help

Hi all. I started building a LL and am wondering if anyone has any 'secrets' they could pass on to me as far as getting people to list their sites (I only have so many free sites to add myself) and well, the traffic thing is lacking also. I get a few submissions but there has to be something out there that I'm not aware of to make this go a little faster. Sorry, I'm such a

Well, posting here & becoming familiar with those that build free sites is a good idea - as well as posting your URL so we know what site you have

There is no "secret" as far as starting up a link lists - not these days anyway. 6 years ago, yes

And a question - are you using a TGP script to run this?

Ohhh - ok - not that there's any problems - just looked like a TGP admin to me.

If I was you, for now, I'd just find sites to list in there so that you fill up the categories & then worry about trades & submitters after that

It loads really slow for me and also does not display right in Mozilla/Netscape with banners loading on top of the listings.

oh, Cleo, don't tell me that. I'm not gonna know where to begin on fixing that. I'm doing stuff way over my head hoping to get it figured out one day.

I just saw your post after I had already made my post and I see that you are using the CE script. I don't really know anything about that. Does it let you do your own page design and stuff?

Anyway best way to check your stuff in other browsers is to check it in other browsers. You can download Mozilla for free here. http://mozilla.org/ Mozilla and Netscape use the same code base so if it works in one it will work in the other.

Not sure what exactly you mean by design. But, its fairly flexible and seems to be really easy to manage. I'm very new to the whole website thing so I have nothing to compare it to. I'm sure if/when I get more familiar with what I'm doing I'll get brave and use scripts on my site. For now this is pretty much dummy proof and something I can easily learn to keep up. (I hope!)

This just my opinion, (moderators correct me if wrong) but you putting you url to your link list is not spam.

webopedia.com defines spam as follows: Electronic junk mail or junk newsgroup postings. Some people define spam even more generally as any unsolicited e-mail. However, if a long-lost brother finds your e-mail address and sends you a message, this could hardly be called spam, even though it's unsolicited. Real spam is generally e-mail advertising for some product sent to a mailing list or newsgroup, or unsolicited posts to bb's with the object being to sell one's product for profit.

You wanting people to submit to your list is beneficial to both parties. Call it cross promotion. More exposure for your site, more exposure for their site, link popularity possibilities from the recips (if hardcoded) and possible sales for both the linklist owner and the submitter.

I whore my linklist all over the place. Its how you become known. I have a post just above this thread asking for submissions to my linklist. If it was spam. It would have been pulled or put into another catagory.

Pimp your linklist out as much as you can. Greenguy (in the beggining, i assume) didnt become one of the biggest players in the linklist game by never pimpin' out his url. I bet if you could look back in time in the internet archives you would see all the big players of today as newbies like ourselves trying to get recognized. And I bet you would see a lot of url's being thrown around.
