Did you guys watch 60 minutes last night?

I mean, the President of Iran. To me, he seemed almost like a regular guy. If it wasn't for the comments he has made about wiping Israel off the map and that he has 55,000 people in the US and Great Britain ready to die if Iran is attacked, I would think he was a fine leader.

It was surprising to hear him say he felt sorry for the people of the US because 1% of the population is in prison and 45 million are without health care.

He also, like myself, doesn't quite understand why Bush won't talk to him. He also said that leaders don't get anywhere threatening other countries.

In the future this country will have to be able to deal with--and that includes talking with--more and more foreign leaders who are able to hold up their end of the dialogue very well. I look forward to that, and to the people of this country one day realizing that how we see things from inside is very different than the views available from a distance.

I think Ahmadinejad knows that if he wants attention and media coverage, then comments like those about Israel and the 55,000 are what it takes to get it. How serious is he, and how correct is he about his numbers, those are questions I'm nowhere near sure enough about.

I agree about the number 55,000. It is a big stick to have in your back pocket even if it is just a threat and the number is fictitious.

Remember back just before the first war in Iraq when Saddam Hussein said it would be the mother of all wars. I can remember everyone laughing at that statement back then. I remember the drawing of the camel with a rocket in his mouth and balls on a stump. The stump had a guy behind it with a sledge hammer waiting to hit the camel's balls. I wonder why we don't see cartoons like that anymore.

No matter what they say, I think the US Government has to learn to take everything any government leader says seriously. And when a leader of any country writes to Bush, he should respond.

I was really impressed with the guy, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a great sense of humor. I think it is time that our gov't stop being babies and start talking to these people on a serious level. That is all they want is a chance to get their side of the story out instead of the constant "they are gonna blow us up with a nuke" that we are continually fed.

I tried to figure out years ago why Dubya refused to talk with Saddam when he was offering open communications. After all, wouldn't a follower of Jesus at least make some effort for peace before killing 10,000s and fostering a world where allies are now breeding more terrorists then at any time in history?

He's a cowboy and he wants his base to think that he's strong. His base is filled with hostility and hate and that's become a valuable tool. If he talks to any of these leaders and avoids war then he's not able to control his base of voters.

Ahmadinejad blaming Israel and making silly claims is little different then Dubya's claims about Saddam. I'm sure that if any leaders in Iran speaks out against Ahmadinejad they will immediately be bashed by the media, called unpatriotic and basically loose power even if they're speaking the truth.

Not much different then what was going on here before the war.

I don't think Ahmadinejad is nuts. I think he controls his people by filling them with fear and hate. He also knows that now that Saddam is gone and we're tied up in a war that can NOT be won, he can do whatever he wants and we can't do shit about it.

I was in bed way too sick to watch TV but it is something I would have liked to watch.

I just hope we survive the Bush legacy.
