Opinions and experiences with 2257 softwares??
I was wondering who has experience with the various packages of 2257 software?
Not the commercial grade stuff for sponsors and producers, the kind of thing that's meant for secondary publishers like most of us. The way I see it, the ideal software would have some ability to scan a domain and find the jpgs and gifs there, then build a database listing all the images it found on a domain, then give you the ability to review and edit and annotate that database. Is there anything that does that? Is there anything that does something useful that an ordinary spreadsheet program wouldn't do just as well? |

Bill - unfortunately none of the 2257 software out there is compliant with the new record-keeping requirements instilled by the Adam Walsh bill in 2006 - its as if they thought it would dissapear based on the FSC fighting against the CFR75.1 record keeping requirements which are totally different - heck for that matter the way I read the Walsh bill there is no such thing as a secondary producer - all involved are just producers

I guess I'm a little surprized that there was so little reponse to this.
Am I the only one here with tens of thousands of images that would need to be databased somehow? How are you folks planning on handling this business problem? I was thinking of buying a cheapie laptop to use as a dedicated 2257 database station, but what software to use is still a puzzle. What advantages would there be to buying a dedictaed 2257 script, as opposed to just using a cheap database program? |

I have been looking around too Bill. None of them seem to be compliant with the latest issues. But, a few of them seem really expensive. It looks like any database software will do the same thing.

If there is nobody out there, that's a lot of real estate going to waste!

Maybe I'll go back to work on a relational Access DB that I started working on.

The prices were set when the initial panic happened and people were willing to pay because they were afraid.
