Pay Per Sign-up Vs. Recurring. Which do you prefer?
I have only had experience promoting free sites with pay per sign-ups and was wondering what others out that promote with recurring have to say. There was an occasion where I promoted recurring and one person has stayed for 6 months, so now I'm wonder if I should be doing something different. What is the average length of time people keep membership?

I think it all depends on the program. If a site is updated regularly, the quality of content is really good and the tour promises are actually fulfilled, a customer can stay for quite a long term. I think that average stickiness will vary depending on the program. If we take a good program with high rebill ratio, I think recurring is the way to go, as after couple of months, once you have quite a few customers who rebill steadily, you will start getting a good steady income.

I use a mix of about 70% revshare and 30% PPS. It would be even higher revshare, but some programs only offer PPS.

I prefer revshare but the trick is to find the revshare ones that retain members.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess I'll have to try promoting some revshare programs. Anyone have any suggestions for affiliates that are good at retaining members?

This probably doesn't qualify as a Universal Truth, but my personal generalized uneducated impression is that revshare programs convert at a steadier rate than most PPS programs. Some PPS programs convert so poorly/fluctuate so wildly that you can't help but go "hmmm...". I don't know, maybe it has something to do with $40 payouts for $25 memberships.
When you get the odd, unexplainable dip even with revshare the rebills pull you through.

Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

For a lot of sites that rely on revshare like my site nubiles.net, it is very important to add tons of new content weekly. This content is also used on the tour making it fresh weekly. I think this could explain what he is saying. Of course that doesnt mean pps per program sites do not add new content however many programs are on the plan of building new sites instead of continuing to grow the current site and it shows on the tour.
