While it looks something like the iPhone it lacks some of the features that caused me to buy an iPhone.
iPhone is zero config. Plug it into the usb port and it syncs your email accounts, calenders, address book, music play lists, photos, videos, and ring tones. No messing with setting up anything. Then at night when I plug it into the usb port to charge it backs up everything including my sms conversations to my laptop and if anything happens to my phone I can just get a new one, plug it into the usb port, and my new phone is exactly like my old phone was right down to all my sms conversations. It also syncs any changes that I've made to my phone back to the computer or any changes I've made on the computer back to my phone. Also with the new software coming out next month, free update, lots of new features like remote wipe incase I loose my phone. Not sure if the Voyager has WiFi but it is something that I love about the iPhone since I'm often within WiFi range. |

I really hate cell phone cases but I keep mine in an Incase case since I'm terrified of dropping and breaking it so you can't see the nice and shinny Apple logo on it.
I haven't owned a flip phone since last century but when I did I hated that type of phone since I don't want to flip, slid, twist or do anything else to see the screen and use the phone. Before the iPhone I would always buy candy bar phones and my friends with their Motorola RAZR phones could never understand why I wouldn't buy a kewl phone like theirs. Sounds like it is new phone time for you. ![]() |

It has a full html browser on the voyager via verizon mobile web and VCast. Syncs with emails, AIM and there is a way to set ICQ up but havent gotten that in depth yet. It has a USB chord, that allows for music, contact, ringtone, calendar, video and image sync from my PC.

Is it real web or that special web made for mobile devices?
Did you have to setup the email accounts on the phone or was it automatic when you synced the phone? Does it do IMAP? How is the music managed? Is it just manual or does it sync playlists with some application on the PC? Does it charge from the usb cord? Does it have WiFi for web browsing and email? |

Web Browsing a HUGE improvement over the standard BREW browser found on most Verizon Wireless phones, which could only handle WAP pages. The browser is simple, easy-to-use, and works with both the external touch screen and the internal display. Even large web pages (ex. digg.com) loaded eventually, but using it was not practical since it took too long to load or navigate. The browser doesn’t support flash or ajax, but was sufficient enough for viewing text, images, and links. Most of the websites Ive tested it with worked surprisingly well. When using the external display you can drag the page around with a finger, otherwise you’ll have to use the four-way navigation pad. Additional “screen optimized” and “text only” views are available along with the zoom function. The Voyager also delivers the web content over a 3G network which is faster than the iPhone’s 2G. But from Im told the Safari browser on the iPhone is better for viewing. The Mobile Web is part of the V Cast package for verizon - which is $15 additional per/mo It has a feature called Mobile Email, that can be set up through most of the most popular service providers. Its an easy-to-use email client which will work instantly with your Yahoo! Mail, Live Mail, AOL/AIM, or Verizon accounts. If you do happen to have your own server or use another mail service such as Gmail, you can even enter in your own POP3/IMAP and SMTP servers. The only downside was that the functionality was quite basic and didn’t even allow opening links in messages. Despite this, it remains a good way of getting a sneak peak of your inbox, replying to messages, and composing new ones when you’re away from your computer. Music Your computer will recognize the Voyager as portable media player (mass storage device), so no additional drivers were required. You will, however, need to pop in the CD and install the drivers if you do wish to use your phone as a data modem. Once the device was recognized I was able to use Windows Media Player to transfer the music onto the Voyager. If you prefer to directly copy files onto the phone using the file explorer, that works smoothly as well. USB Charge via a computer is available. GPS navigator is available. I hope I covered all you asked.

Not tough enough for me - after trashing the 3rd phone in as many months - I finally switched to a military model - found it on the bottom of the hottub after my last party and it still works - now let's see an iphone do that

Mine went flying out of my hand at the grocery store today and got run over by someone's cart. Somehow, it is in a leather case, it didn't suffer any damage. All that went through my head was noooooooooo, not before the new model is available.
Don't think it would do very well at the bottom of a hot tub though. |

I considered an Iphone but then i thought, why in the fuck would i need it, the last thing i want to do when i'm out is surf the net and check email.
If i can dial a number and speak to people then that's all i need in a phone, anything else is just a gimmick to impress people dumb enough to fall for over-priced fasion accessories. ![]() |

At one time that is all I wanted for phone but then all of a sudden a lot of people that I do biz with and also friends starting communicating by text messaging. Wanting something that was easy to text with that had a full keyboard was what got me to buy a PDA phone.
One of the benefits of getting the iPhone was that I now can leave my laptop home a lot more since the iPhone does email and web browsing so well. The reason that I'm asking a bunch of questions about the phone that NY Jester bought is that I still do a little bit of consulting work and all of a sudden it seems that everyone wants a PDA phone and I've been getting asked a lot about Blackberrys, Palm phones, iPhones, and anything else that is a PDA phone. I personally love my iPhone but that doesn't mean it is the best phone for everyone. |

I agree about the keyboard etc as normal phones are a pain in the arse with texts but most people are ruled by their phones, you go in pubs and clubs, all you'll see are people texting and playing with the damn things, why go out if that's all they're gonna do?
I throw my phone on the passanger seat of my car and if it rings or i get a text i ignore it till i get to where ever i'm going and if it's important enough i may reply, other than that i prefer to get away from it all. Anything else can wait till i get home. Some people are so impressed by a phone that has a camera (99% of which take shit photos) or can do this and that i think, get a life ffs lol When they bring out a phone that can wash, clean, cook and wash and polish my car i'll be impressed. ![]() |

im not the kind of person who loves that kind of gadget, as long as i can use it through calling and texting. that would be enough for me. don't like so many features.
