What do you think of the new NFL Proposals?
For those NFL fans that have been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, here's the list of proposals for the next TV Contracts in 2006:
Move back starting times 1 hours for Sunday afternoon games Drop AFC/NFC delineations for Sunday afternoon games (meaning CBS would not be just AFC games, Fox would not be just NFC games) Delay start of the season by 1-2 weeks Move Monday Night Football To Thursday Add 5th TV Package, possibly Thursdays *** 2:00 games would give us more time to sleep on Sundays (or more time to drink, but I don't think my liver can handle an extra hour of drinking before the games - LOL) I like MNF but I think Thursday games would just wreak havoc on Fantasy Football Leagues And they are already moving back the start of the season - it's a week later this year. |

Do not Fuck with MNF, completely stupid Idea. This has high rating’s week after week, year after year.
But do schedule 2 games on Monday after week 4, and who ever is the better match up plays on MNF, and the other has regional coverage or ESPN. Dumb idea starting 2 weeks later, they NEED to stop these 4 weeks of complete BULLSHIT called preseason, just ask Vick why. Have no more then 2 preseason games, and start the season the week after and turn the other 2 preseason games into REAL games that mean something so we will have a 18 week season. Of course add a 5th package. I kinda like the NFC on FOX and AFC on CBS, and I kinda don't like it, flip a coin there. Don't move the start times back, no reason to. |

Hmmm, some of those sound real stupid. Keep MNF!!!!!
I agree Thursday games screw up the fantasy leagues. LOL But maybe a Saturday afternoon/night game for the 5th TV deal. Never really thought about the AFC/NFC thing for different networks so who cares. Definetely DO NOT start the season later. It's a disadvantage as it is for teams like Miami traveling to play in the snow and doing it for another 2 weeks makes it even tougher. Plus if I lived in Buffalo seeing 2 games in September sounds better than 2 more in January. Start times seem fine but then again we're on the east. Imagine the west where the games are 10am and 1pm. But being on the east screw the weat and keep the same start times. hehe |

I'm not a fan of moving back times. Having hot wings and bloody mary's for lunch while watching football is quite a tradition.
Thursday night football would kind of rock! Unfortunately bars already make money on Thursdays so local businesses will not support it. There's way too much money in MNF for it to go away. Bars have no customers on Monday's until the football season. I like NFC on Fox becasue I'm used to it. I could adjust to the change. GG, you're wrong dude. Football was meant to be played in the mud. They're just ain't no more mud. |

The NFL is a machine!!! They could fill your seat with shit and make you clean it before sitting down and people would just go a little earlier. They could broadcast them at 4 in the morning and I would be right there watching them. The NFL is my weakness and anything they force down my throat I will swallow.

Who put this damn rock on my head?
Anyway...move back starting times?! Am I the only one who lives in EST? 1 is fine. Granted, getting up at 10 or so to watch games when I lived on the West Coast sucked. I don't care who plays on what network... Delaying the season is going to make me go into withdrawls faster. HELL no on MNF on Thursday. MNF is a frickin institution. What'd get them better ratings is some schedule flexibility, so we don't get two 5-11 teams playing in October. |

When I first lived in Hawaii in the in the early 80's they didn't show the games live they had something like a 4 hour delay so the bookies couldn't fix bets.
Of course that was before satellite and espn1...espn400 lol 10am EST start would mean tuning in at 4am local time there. |

Personally the time push back sucks, I HATE the idea of NO Monday night football, delaying the season more blows.. So basically Ill pass on all of the above.

I have to admit, I have been under a rock for the last few days. When staying at my father's house, all we watch is the SciFi channel
![]() But thinking about pushing the starting date, I remember every year thinking, I'm not ready for football. I don't think it is really such a bad thing. But, I would hate to change MNF in any way. |

You know, I'd favor cutting preseason back to one or two games rather than pushing the start date back. Everybody plays for a quarter or a series anyway, so why bother having the game? Watching gentlemen who won't be on the team in a month isn't something I have to see (though I usually watch anyway, scouting for fantasy football sleepers).
