Question Question about JW FLV Media Player

Does anyone know how to configure this player so that when you click anywhere on the video that's playing you go to a link, ie; sponsor's paysite? I can do it in TubeX, but can't seem to do it in regular pages where I have the player installed.

I'm using the "so.addVariable" method of configuration.

Thanks!

LD - you may want to think about whether you really want have surfers sent to the paysite tour when they click on the video. Sure, you'll send more of them to the tours that way, but will you really get better conversions with what will essentially be a blind-linking strategy?

Most surfers will expect that clicking on the playing video will simply pause the playback and let the stream get ahead a little bit before they restart play by clicking it again. And with the way some sponsor hosted videos lag a bit on playback, I'd expect surfers to want to pause them at times.

My thinking is you'll wind up with both a bad conversion ratio and with a lot less surfers interested in bookmarking your site and returning to it.

I know how to do it in TubeX (and I don't do it), but I'm not sure what you'd have to do to make it work on other pages. I'm sure someone here knows how to do it, so you'll be able to if you want to do that. I only want to suggest that just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should do it.

Please do let me know if that strategy works for you though.

Note: I intend to have a player coded for me so that I can easily add short pre-roll and post-roll promos to video clips, and offer the surfer a way to click a link only after they've watched the clip, instead of making the whole clip a full-time clickable link. I just think that's a better strategy if I want to build up site loyalty and traffic.

Thanks Simon...I am doing it on my tube, but might rconsider. I had thought about doing it om my freesites, but nowthat you mention it, it would be a blind link.

I would be very interested in the pre-roll and/or post roll ad. I seem to remember the paid version of Flowplayer allowing it, but I want to stick with JWPlayer.

Basically you'll need to add a clickable "button". Plus some ActionScript to the FLV file to pull the external URL variable and link it to the button

I've been sorta playing around with the wrapper ideal also for tube posting.
