Free Sites - A New Approach?
I don't do free sites any more, but I used to. At the moment I am designing a new (non adult) site, and stuck for ideas I started going through my old free site templates looking for inspiration. Still stuck for ideas I took a coffee break in the hope that coming back to the job refreshed would give me the "oomph" I needed. Didn't work. But while drinking the coffee and thinking about the free sites it crossed my mind that there is a way to improve traffic to them. It may not work, I'm just thinking out loud here. However it may work. So I'm posting my thinks here, throwing it open to discussion, and hopefully a more productive future may evolve from this thread.
Firstly free site design. Basically all you got here is a pile of pictures or videos and some adds. Google will not index this! Put some text on the page: Quote:
And now here comes the real sacrilege: Also on the picture pages! Change that rule that states "pictures must not be on HTML pages" to "pictures must be on HTML pages" and add a rule "there must be plenty of good text on all picture pages". I have bondage sites where I allow someone to write about their bondage lifestyle, and we split the profits. These get more Google traffic today than my free sites used to get from all link lists and search engines combined in the golden days of free sites. And the best part - some of these are years old, and they still get good traffic. How many of the free sites you created and got listed five years ago are still getting the same level of traffic that they got when you first posted them? Photos and videos attract the surfer, but text attracts the search engines. Sure, the text don't sell, it puts the surfer off - but they won't be sent there in the first place if Google don't send them. So put the text below the picture or video (and below your sponsor ads), Google will read it, but most surfers won't bother. Next the link sites. First there are those rules of "pictures must be on HTML pages" and "there must be plenty of good text on all picture pages". This not only helps the sites you list, it helps you. If Google see the free site as a "good" site it will pay more attention to it's links. And your link back will be worth more! Now change the way your site lists websites. At the moment you probably have something like: Quote:
Well change that to: Quote:
That way we get the traffic back that the tubes are taking from us! Well, that was my coffee break thinking. Your thoughts please! |

That BBW text sounds like something I could have written in the past
![]() On he other hand, I read somewhere that SEO is a bit dead these days. Not sure what the new "trick" is. |

Some pretty good ideas there, ecchi.
We have been using Yoast SEO on more and more of our blogs. Its been improving our results cause you get immediate feedback on key word saturation, tags, post length and descriptions. etc. You are right when it comes to more writing is needed on new pages these days. I am wondering how your ideas might fare on a wp or Ghost blog system. A site you can make pages and pages and inter-connect them with content. They key is keeping people on your site for as long as possible. Keep them entertained and interested.
