Yeah - he is a hero & it is a shame, but the sad thing is that he didn't want any of this media coverage - alive or dead.
After 9-11 he said he was gonna quit football & go into active duty. After he made that statement, he never gave another interview. He didn't want his deciding to go into the military to be a "big deal" just because he was an NFL player. |

He was an example of the old style hero. He didn't want glory and fame for himself. He wanted to serve his country that afforded him so many opportunities.
Most of the young men and women serving their country are just as much hero's. It's a shame that in times like these that people can't get the proper perspective on duty, honor, and loyalty. Which is why his efforts make him so outstanding. |
