To the link list gods -- Question

OK I am starting up a site that will be a link list. I am curious about the software that can be found that will count in/out hits and then rank the links accordingly based on category.

I am looking for something preferably free, but cheap will be ok to.

Any advice you can give on the software out there?

I bought phpListPro and it turned out to be a scam from what I can tell since there is no support for it and practically no directions.

I then found a personal links 2.0 which is good and I can customize if need be, but would wrather find something done already and save my time working on the site.

I know about AutoRank PHP/Pro, but im not really interested in it, unless its a last resort.

P.S. And if you feel so inclined, maybe some advise on submitting my link list, where to submit/how etc. I am new to the link list game and would like as much info as possible.

Please advise,
Andy

Andy,

If you are going to rank on traffic in and out.. then AutoRank is the only script I would recommend, despite what you said. Is there a reason you dont like it?

Submitting a linklist to other linklists is just like submitting a site.. you need to follow the rules.. except "sites" in your categories are your content.

I use AutoRank Pro, wouldn't use anything else.

Well as far as AutoRank I just dont care for JMBSoft that much. I have dealt with them numerous times in the past and they have always been a hassle.

Anyhow, I was debtaing on ranking by out or in & out. Not really sure what to do yet.

As far as submitting sites, if I run a link list that has multiple categories do I just submit it to a general category, say on your link list?

Are there still traffic trades like with TGP's on link lists or is it all based on the links in the db and thats it?

If I use just a link list script, I am assuming I still need a way to put permanent links to link list trades correct?

Is there a good program or a good list of link lists to submit to?

Thanks so far for the info.

Using links 2 it's no problem to rank by out, would be a major, and not worth while, effort to rank by in.

The problem with ranking all sites by out is that it's a recurring thing... The sites that get a few hits at the start will then sit at the top, so they get more hits than others and they'll never move.

AcidMax: yes, you need to have a solid link to the link sites you are submitting to, not just the top ranking thing. As DD said, it is just like submitting any other site... you need to follow the rules.

Also, make sure you don't use a system that requires unique link codes or special tracking.php?ID=greenguy stuff, as most link sites just won't do it as part of a regular submit.
