Angry I hate sprint

/rant

I hate sprint

I so fucking hate sprint, I’m sure the other phone companies are probably the same, but I can not speak from experience on the others except for sprint, and I hate sprint.

We first got our cell phones from sprint about 5 years ago, and about 3 years ago our first contract was expiring, and we was thinking of going to another carrier, (this is before you could keep your phone numbers and phones were not yet free to new customers)

We stopped by a sprint store to look at the new phones and the sprint rep there got talking to us and we mentioned we was thinking of going elsewhere and long story short he told us if we extended with sprint, we get new phones free with a form they mail to us.

Being stupid we believed him.

After waiting for this form in the mail, we went back to the store and of course the guy no longer worked there and was full of shit. We were locked into a new contract no matter what until November 2005.

Since I am a cheap fuck and am still pissed over being duped, and that a new guy can walk in, get a free phone, while we have been customers for years we have to pay full price and wait for a rebate check 6-8 weeks later we have not replaced the phones. So they are 5+ years old, and dying a slow slow death. (We came close to buying new phones last year but decided we hated sprint and was just going to hold out to Nov ’05.)

We moved to FL last June, and Toni calls sprint for some odd reason in October ’04 and as an after thought, she asked exactly when our contract was up. They told her Nov 2006. Since the phones are all in my name I got on the phone with a supervisor and 30 mins later he finally told me the contract will expire in Nov 2005.

Being stupid I took his word and didn’t ask for it in writing.

Today I look online and see we are with sprint until July 2006.

So once more I call, (this time I write down the supervisors name and ID #) and we get into a huge 24 min discussion where I explain how sprint has lied and lied and lied to us and ask how the hell did we go from Nov ’05, to Nov ’06 back to Nov ’05 back to July ’06 when I never signed anything, nor agreed to anything.

She’s telling me since we got our phones switched to a FL # that automatically renewed us for another year.

Nice.

After more “discussion” she admits it is sprints fault, we got hosed. And to make it better, we get $100 rebate per phone. My smartass side of me popped off, “and if we accept this rebate how many more years are we stuck with sprint”….. ** 2 MORE YEARS**

Not only have they lied to us, and not only do they admit it was sprints fault, but their customer service “fix” is to offer $100 per phone only if we stay 2 more years?

How insane is this? Can you imagine telling our customers, “sorry your password isn’t working, the problem was our fault and for me to fix it I need you to sign up for 2 more years and then I will fix it for you.”

At this point, I am accepting defeat. The phones we have are very outdated, have terrible reception, and the batteries are dying faster and faster, so we are going to accept the $100 rebate per phone and get stuck with sprint for 2 more years since the only other choice is getting new phones with Cingular and be paying for 4 phone lines for 14 months.

The thing I loved the most today was how much this supervisor made it look like she is going out of her way to give us these $100 rebates per phone, which oddly enough looks exactly like the same thing they offer on their site, unless you are a new customer then its $150.

This is the issue with big business, sign a contract and you are fucked in customer service, they can admit wrong all day long, but in the end, you are the one fucked. I get to spend $400 for their lies and I get the pleasure of being stuck with them for 2 more years.

I know sprint isn’t the only company who has no care for customers, but I still hate sprint.

/end the fucking rant

I work for Sprint and I hate hearing about stories like this.

Sprint was rated dead last in the most recent customer service survey, AGAIN.

Hopefully things will change but I doubt they will. I have been there for a year and 5 months and its the same old shit just a new spin.

Wow, that sucks. I've used Sprint for about 5 years without any problems. My calls rarely drop and are pretty clear. In fact, I just renewed my contract (for 2 years?) and got a $300 video phone for $150. Yes, the contracts suck ass, but don't you pretty much have to sign your life away no matter who you use? |confused|

Verizon sucks as well... we had them for about 4 years... got stuck in the contract renewal circle as well.... finally, my cell got stolen and I just told them I was going to wait out the 45 days and not renew... so no phone charges, no new phone, no nada... I waited those bastards out.

Switched to Nextel and love it. Got a 2 year contract that's up next February... but since they have the Sprint thing going now I might not renew... problem is, not sure who I would switch to. T-Mobile has bad ratings in our area - dropped calls and such... love Nextel, but hate Sprint so we'll see what happens as the merger becomes more clear.

Sorry to hear about your problems - that really IS the worst cell service experience I've ever heard. Hope you get out of it soon.

Talk about a circle jerk.....

I have sprint as well there is a little know fact that if you get new phones it has to be 18 months prior to the last new ones and if it has been 18 months, you can get the prices the new customer gets and the free phone offers as well.

all cell phone companies suck

called up verizon to get a cell phone i was told by them that i would have to pay 2,000.00$ dollars in order to get a phone because i have "no credit backround" i laughed mighty hard and hung up the phone mighty quick that day.
even though i have been paying for there lan phone service and dsl internet for at least 3 years i still dont have a credit backround :-P haha!

called up sprint got a phone it works had it so long im out of the contract allready
however i hate that every month they add some weird charge increase every couple of months and i will be getting rid of them soon

dont trust any small stores that sell cell phones go to the main webpage or call the phone company up directly cuase all those smaller guys are resellers and will tell you anything to get your money and push you into the company policy.

I think any company which requires you to be in a contract for service is full of shit! That right there obviously says right there that their service sucks and that is the only way they can keep you.
Oh yeah, Torn... I know what you mean about the little games. Verizon did the same to me. Added an additional phone = 1 extra year of service. All of them are about the same though. Alltel , AT&T/Suncom, Verizon, Sprint, none of them are worth a shit, but we as consumers can't go 5 minutes without having to talk to someone on the phone, so we are our own worse enemies, and are only fueling their corporate greed.

Never get into a deal for more then 12 months and read the contract carefully. They may charge you $50 instead of giving a free phone for signing up for 1 year instead of 2 years but 12 months from now you'll be able to get better deal and make your $50 back.

Yes, you do need to confirm everything on the corporate web site. Either the people you're talking to are trying to rip you off or they really don't know what they're talking about.

best thing Is to buy your own phone and buy minutes and fuck those contracts and I had a run around with a verizon motrola phone that got damaged and the main board needed replaced and was under a contract and didnt buy the insurance for damage so I called the phone manufactor and see if they would sell me a board and they said I had to be a repair station so then I go to verizon and then starts the BS, the store we got the phone at is not qualifed at level some BS to replace the main board but if you look at there work bench there is phones all apart to clean and repair, so then I call verizon CS and talk to a rep. and they say you have to find a higher level verizon store to buy the parts from so I went back to the store and the repair guy told me off to the side to forget about it because verizon wont sell a main board they consider that the whole phone and want you to buy another so I looke on the net for days and could buy everything for a cell phone except the main board - just another way to fuck people and make them spend money.. why would I want to buy a main board is because my wife had just renewed her contract and had credits built up to get a nice ass phone free and had it only two weeks and it fell into spit up from the kids in the car waste bag for only a short time till we found the phone and the acid ate a part off the board and the phone was still under motrola warrantee but excluded water damage and the cost of repair was high - so I wont buy any motorola products when they wont even sell you a part because there large customer verizon wants you to buy a new phone - cock suckers

We have sprint and a family plan at that.

our service is ok.. BUT every month we have a fight with them over the charges on our bill.

we get some visionphone charge when we don't have a vision phone. our base bill is 45.00 a month with 20 for the 1st phone and 10 for the 2nd. but the 20 additional ends up being like 30 and the 10 is 20 with all these extra charges..

we got a charge last month for "duplicate carrier" for 2.99. I called them up and said.. what is this for. She said that's where you share cell phone companies. i was like SHARE phone companies.. what does that mean..(my older son is on AT&T) she said that's for calling a non sprint cell phone. WTF.. well needless to say i told her she was full of shit..and that it better be removed.

I think their training program is "Tell the customer anything they want to hear, Lie to them, whatever because they are all locked in anyway".

No wonder they are dead last!!

We don't have cell phones. I just don't see the point of them. I'm not fond of using my land line, so I'm not about to be happy if someone calls me at the grocery store. But I did a cell phone built in to my Explorer when I was installing DirecTv a few years back. I used to keep it turned off so that the office couldn't call me.

Anyway, I'm with plateman. I may buy one of those handy dandy prepaid units off the shelf somewhere and avoid contracts. I just want it for my wife's daily commute. That way she can call me and tell me that she got a flat tire and is now being clubbed and gangbanged by state troopers in the back of a cruiser.

I worked for a company that sold sprint PCS when it was launched.
When they came out with their original phones, the company rep gave me a phone for the stores use, and to demo them (billed to the STORE, bill delivered care of me, the store manager). I used it to demo and never took it out of the store even. It stayed parked behind the sales counter.

YEARS later I looked up my credit report and saw a collection on there, so I called them up and said what the fuck is this delinquent collection attempt on my report? Report came back that it was from a $9 SPRINT PCS LACK OF PAYMENT!!!!! Mother FUCKERS.
I contacted everyone involved, all three credit agencies, sprint pcs, my old company, everyone. ALL acknowledged that the bill should have never been placed on my credit report, that I was not responsible for the billing at the time, that they had NEVER contacted me personally about it EVER!!!!!!!! But guess what? I had to pay the fucking $9 to get the fucking thing off of my report, and then they removed it from my report.

They suck. I have about 5 Sprint PCS phones in a drawer here somewhere. All deactivated. Some cheap, some expensive. I'll never use any of them unless I decide to creatively destroy them.

Howsabout you?

Just an FYI for folks with phones they want to get rid of. Call your local women's shelter or police station, some will take old phones because even if it is no longer in service most are still able to call 911. And those agencies will give them out to women who may need a phone to protect themselves.

All companies are doing this now, even DirecTV. If you get a Tivo with them, they extend your contract. I cannot get local channels because my dish (which was only installed 2 years ago when I got my original internet through them) will not get local channels (which we didnt have yet back then.). So I asked about getting local channels, they said they can come out and put a new dish on for free, but we need to extend for at least another year. They stick you with another year for each Tivo you buy too. I like DirecTV but it seems more and more companies are sticking people by extending contracts.

The one good thing is you actually might be able to get out of the contract. See what the cancellation fee is, usually its only like $200. You could get the $200 from sprint, then cancel and basically cancel with their $200, then move to another phone company.
