How many recips to LL is ok?

It's beena long while since I built free sites. I notice that several of the LL require to have their recip on the index page of the site.

How many recips is too many? I'm doing 9 right now and GG & SmutGremlins have already accepted the site, but now I'd like to start submitting to more sites like Findpics. Can I do 12 recips on the index page? Seems cluttered to me.

Why do the LL want to only have their recip on the index page? It seems a doorway page in the same folder would be fine as long as they are grouped with a few other big LL.

Hell, some have 18 or more on one page and they get listed almost everywhere. Just don't make a recip table that's ugly as hell and you'll be fine.

Ponyman some ll's will let you put their recip on a doorway like warning.html if there are some other good ll's on it. If you want to do it this way put the ones that don't allow it on your index.html with a couple of the best, then some more of the good ones with the other doorways. And if some small ll demands to be only with all the good ones don't bother submitting to them if you don't have room.

I've been watching this thread with interest. Back in the day when dinosaurs ruled the internet, I had a linklist. It was a pretty little thing, nothing to write home about. My wittle feelings were injured grieviously, however, by seeing my pretty little linkback button on index43.html. Did I expect to be on index.html next to Greenguy? No, of course not. As a writer, however, I know a lot of words. "Warning" is a word. "Enter" is a word. "Entrance" is a word. (This can go on for quite some time.) I didn't mind seeing my pretty linkback button on a doorway page that a webmaster had put some effort into creating, matched appropriately with link lists of a similiar size to my own.

Now that I've come full circle and am building erotica sites to spotlight my work, I'm also trying to build these sites with intelligence, learning what is and is not acceptable in the year 2005. It's nice to know that I can add a few more LL buttons to the sites I've built without offending any LL owners.

Any page is fine here - and as long as the table looks good I dont care if you have 24 links LOL

I guess Im old-fashioned as Ive always liked the warning, entrance, enter and index pages (even with html and htm if I need more copies) and I dont remember reading any LLs that require their recip to be on the index page specifically - although I guess if I ran into that Id probably be irked enough to remove them from my submit list

I would say at least 6, but I've seen some sites going with 8 or even 9 now....but for our link directory, I don't have any rule of submission regarding how many recips, as long as it doesn't look like a huge banner farm....you said you feel 12 looks cluttered...my suggestion is if you feel this way, don't do 12 then. Remember, its "your" site....not a LL's or directory's site. Although you still want to comply with the basic submisison rules of them.

Anything less than 40 is a waste of time |clown| I'd say you'll find that 12 is pretty average. If you take the time to juggle them according to size, you can fit a few more.

I normally get freesites with 9-12 recips, but I think 12 or more is no problem.

I would actually say that more recips is better, because this will boost PR of the freesite which means that LL owners and the submitter will benefit from this. I think LL owners with recip restrictions should think twice about this. It´s better to make one freesite with 24 recips than 4 copies with 6 recips, becuase they will get banned by google for duplicate content. If LL owners had some SEO in mind they should add a rule which would mean that the submitter only can submit one copy of their site and it should contain alot of recips, maybe 24+.
