What the hell is PR

OK I know that it has something to do with search engine ranking, but how do you check what yours is?

I noticed that when trading traffic guys require you to have a certain PR

Nice link, binxgook!

so what does PR 1 mean? That is good I'm pretty sure.

How about PR 0 ? Is that the best possible?

PR0 is the complete absence of page rank. 10 is the best. Google is a PR10.

PR is on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being the best.

PR (page rank) used to be a unique idea presented by google long ago, but it's been proven to not mean much anymore. Google pretty much controls it as they feel fits their own best interest, more so than others. There are also methods to cheat PR to give yourself high ranks....

In a nutshell, don't depend too much on Google page rank (its a proprietary google toy)...stick with the basics for your SEO efforts and always build your sites for yourself and for "ALL" search engines as appose to just one SE. Google is not the only one out there.

Page Rank according to google is PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + ... + PR(tn)/C(tn))
The simple to understand version is a combination of how your pages or site is structured and the number of inbound links.

If someone requires you to have a certain PR for a traffic trade I would run - FAST - the other way - they obviously don't understand the search engines And could eventually get you banned right along with them

I don't do much link trading so here's another newbie question (hopefully not really off topic): If my site was #10 on G for lets say "hot sexy eurochicks", do I want to linktrade with the site showing up on #1 spot, #11 spot, or everyone on that page?

In all seriousness I agree with Linkster here folks. I've seen too many people crying because their site was penalized by Google after doing PR trades.

I know my sites have a pot ratio of 10 lol

Page rank can be picky, just have plenty of content that changes often, you'll get a decent page rank..after a few thousand pages indexed, you'll be doing better than most

as they say..
content is king.

I've learned this much about PR: people will use it as weight when trading links and you'll see no traffic or increased search engine placement from it.

They make special offers like:
"Hey, I'll give you this shitty little link on my high PR buttfuck page and you give me (the world)..."

Beware of that bullshit. Seek out people who build no-bullshit, clean web sites with natural use of keywords. People who take their craft seriously. That was my big mistake, seeking trades on pages which have high PR and no traffic. And I can say they're not helping those domains in the SEs. I've since abandoned them.
