"Free trials" text in FS

Is allowed to promote sponsors sites with "Free trials" text in my FS?

Example:
"Click here for your FREE TRIAL"

Regards.

I see no reason why not, but your example is a blind link and that is a no, no

Well, I think you have to tell the surfer where he is going when clicking on that link. If you have a banner with the sponsor above or below, or something like:
Click here for a free trial at xyz.com.

I am sure others will give more opinions, and more qualified answers.

TekAngel was right on. If the sponsor site actually has free trials then telling your surfer that is ok, but your example link was a blind link. You are not telling them where they are going if they click. If you had a banner above that text all linked together then you would probably be ok.

Otherwise you'd need to do something along the lines of these text links:
"Click here to visit PORNSITE.COM for your FREE TRIAL"
"Visit PORNSITE.COM to claim your free trial"
"Get a 3 day trial at PORNSITE.COM here"

Hope that helps.

I think a lot of folks get more than a little carried away on what is and what isn't a "blind link". Even the most mentally challanged porn surfer would know when a free trial is offered there is a very high chance the link leads to a site tour.

thegirls,
It is really hard to say if you are giving a blind link or not with the information you provided. What text do you have leading up to it?

Midgets With Monster Cocks has 100's of never before seen videos of midgets hung like mules invading tight twats in the most hardcore videos you will ever see.
<linked text> Start Your Free Trial Today! </linked text>

Myself, I can't imagine how that would be a blind link, but wtf I guess some reviewers might. Unless the site that is declining you for something like that can send lots of traffic that you can convert, move on and find somewhere else to submit.

A side note: Try to be more creative with your linked text. Draw them in and make them want to see more. IMO "click here" does not do that.

I'm pretty much with Maj. Stress on on this one. It's all about context. The words "FREE TRIALS" imply that there's payment involved somewhere along the line and that's usually enough to unblind a link for me, but I would play it safe and include a paysite name to make it absolutely clear even for the most retarded surfer (and reviewer ). It won't hurt your clickthru and can only help your acceptance rate.

Oh yeah, there better be a free trial option on the signup page, or else your link is deceptive.

Maj. Stress hit the nail on the head. If you reject a site for a statement like "Click Here for a free trial" then you're just looking for reasons to reject sites.

I thought text like -
"Click to Join for the hottest girls ever" was not blind, even if I don't mention the name of the paysite? I thought the idea was not to make them think they'll be getting more free porn when you're sending them to a paysite, not that you have to tell them exactly which paysite they're going to?

There's going to be some variation here in what some think is blind and what isn't. But, IMHO the link you put up there is blind UNLESS you had text leading up to that link promoting a paysite.

"Click to Join for the hottest girls ever" Join them where?

I've been around this board a few years now, and unless I just can't remember correctly.. The old schoolers explained this a few times throughout the years and I'm just relaying the information.

EDIT TO ADD* And I have a very high acceptance rate on my LL's, so it's not as if I am looking to reject sites.

I have to agree with Spacemanspiff, Lemmy, and the venerable Maj. Stress - I don't think it's blind at all, even though I do understand where Lowry is coming from.

I think we sometimes over-protect the surfer, which is why I tend to disagree with most assertions about potentially blind text links. As long as the text isn't misleading, I usually won't judge it as blind.

Just to be clear on my position, I'm not saying you have to use whateverpornsite.com in your text links. But, from my understanding... If you have a link by itself (no banner), then the link must state in some way where the surfer would go if clicked. ie. "Visit Hot Moms With Big Tits For Your Free Trial"

Hot Moms With Big Tits being the paysite name.

I think as a linklist owner we need to try to gain the surfers trust and not toss it out the window. Do we gain trust by allowing links that don't tell you where you're going or what you'll get if you click the link?

I'm not sure, but I'm interested in hearing more feedback.

I used to have that exact guideline, but have since moderated my view. If any of the "magic phrases" are present, e.g. "join up", "get your membership pass", "free trials", "take the tour" etc etc, I feel that any reasonable surfer should understand that the link leads to a paysite. But like I said before, it's all about context and I judge every link on its own merits.

I also think it matters where the link is. If it's right on top of the index page I demand more clarity than if it's the last thing on the 2nd gallery. Any surfer that makes it that far isn't going to buy anyway.

Yes, that's what I was thinking to do, of course I must be clear in telling the surfer is going to a sponsor promo.
Thanks LowryBigwood
