I don't want to purchase Adobe Acrobat.

Does anyone know of a free software that will allow me to complete the IRS's W-9 PDF and save the completed copy? I don't need to create PDFs or even want to print them. My only need is for that nagging W-9 form, so free is GOOD.

the latest IrfanView is supposed to allow it -- nice program and it is free. Download.com has about 20 of them that are free. Here's just one - eXPert PDF Reader

Built into Mac OS which I guess doesn't help you at all but I thought the free version of Acrobat allowed filling out PDFs.

I filled one out & printed it up a long time ago - now I just make a copy, sign it & send it to whoever.

The sponsor in question said to email it to them. I just tried to email it and I'm getting an error on their end. (They probably don't accept attachments anyway.) I love the internet.

You can rasterize PDF in Photoshop and then save it as a JPG.

That's what I do, and use Print > Save as PDF... (on the Mac) if I really need it to be a PDF, but usually I can just send the JPEG to the sponsor. And yes, I've taken a picture and sent that too a few times.

On a Mac you can even rasterize a PDF in Preview.

I tried to send it to them and it didn't work. So I'm not going to try again until they stop paying me. They've never complained about not having my W-9 and I only know about the policy because I accidentally found it on their site. Oh well.

I love when a sponsor does do a mailing to tell all affiliates they need to fill-out and email the W-9 to them, or posts a big message on the admin login screens. Then they either don't allow email with attachments at all, have an attachment allowed size smaller than a typical W-9 file, or have a mailbox size set so small that it only holds a handful of replies with attached files.

I recently got a text message on my cell phone from someone I know. I figured I'd send a text message in reply for the hell of it. It bounced with an error saying his phone doesn't accept text messages. Fucker.

It seems you got the editing done ok, but if you want to embed the pdf image (or part of it for that matter), use the snapshot tool in the free adobe reader (you most likely will need to add it to your toolbar) as then you can drag and select all or a part of the pdf and it will copy it to your clipboard where it is very easy to just paste into a html email message
