SEO Domain Question?
I started a site with 1.com but then decided I wanted it to be called 2.com. My site host told me to just have 2.com "parked" at 1.com.
So the site is 1.com but now 2.com points to it and presents to the visitor that the site is 2.com. I checked for PR on both domains and 1.com is listed at the moment as PR0 and 2.com is N/A. Will 2.com not get ranked because it is parked? Or is it not yet being ranked because it is relatively new? (Maybe two weeks old now). Should I change this setup from what it is to the site just being 2.com? I already have google traffic going to 1.com which is why I'm a little hesitant to change it. It's negligible so in the long run it may not matter. Any thoughts?

If you have 2.com serving the content from the same directory as 1.com, with no redirect, you will probably get hit with a dupe content penalty.
If you really want to move from 1.com to 2.com, and you can get any possible link trades to move to the new one, then set up a complete mirror on 2.com, or move all of the content over and put an .htaccess on 1.com that contains: Code:
Redirect 301 / http://www.2.com/ You'll probably see some lag from the time you do the switch and it's possible neither will show up in google during the transition. Making that move early is better than later... I only hope the branding/seo value of 2.com is worth the stress while you wait for google to pick things up. ![]()

I have .htaccess 301 redirect in place --> 2.com to 1.com There are no trade links to be concerned about as I've not yet started seeking out trades on either domain. NP on lag time as long as it gets ironed out eventually. Although obviously sooner rather than later. Any idea on how long it migh take? The brand is definitely worth it IMO.
