Technical question when naming pages

Some of you may regard this information as too "valuable" but I think it's just a minute piece of the game so I would appreciate your input (privately or publicly)

Does anybody know if there is a different in using a ',' or a '-' or a '.' in the punctuation of the text in title tags in regards to keyword rankings?

Let me give a hypothetical situation and you can tell me what you think.

Let's say i'm targetting these's keywords:

Joe's Crackshack Dining Coupons

All other things held constant, would what be my effects on google keyword rankings if I put in the <title> bar the following options:

Title 1) Joe's Crackshack - Dining Coupons
Title 2) Joe's Crackshack, Dining Coupons
Title 3) Joe's Crackshack Dining Coupons

Which of the titles would result in the highest and lowest rankings for the following keywords:

(please say Title 1, Title 2, or Title 3 - or whatever applies)

"Joe's Crackshack"
"Dining Coupons"
"Joe's Crackshack Dining"
"Joe's Crackshack Coupons"
"Joe's Coupons"
"Crackshack Dining"

thanks

If your description tag and keyword tag reflected the same words in the same order it would still depend on what the surfer types in.

Example: surfer types in "blah blah dining" you may come up on the top ten if you have good word dispersement on the page. However, if the surfer types in "Joes blah blah dining" then you would come closer to the #1 spot.

This is all very vague and general because I would have to see the page and see what you utilize for ranking. Plus each SE uses a slightly different ranking system. Which is why I build 10 different doorways for ten different SE's.

I understand, but the only variations I gave in those 3 titles were small changes in punctuation.

I'm not sure what sort of effect punctuation has in titles to google, all other variables held constant.

Ok, for google then, I use "space - space" or " - " all the time, and they list the pages and words separated by the hyphen, as if it wasn't there.

As for the comma I never use it in the title because I read (in '91) that it caused a "full stop" for the robots

Kush - I think you'll find that it doesnt make a lick of difference - and an easy way to verify this for yourself, is to search for some sets of keywords in Google, then look at the cached page they have where they highlight the terms used in the search and you will see that they understand the word combos no matter what. Of course there are some minor differences if you throw in "stop" words like "the" and "of" in the search box....you'll see Google says they didnt use those terms in the search, but then try the same search without those stop words and you will get different results
