Is There A TGP Script That Does What I Need?

OK, so my plans for world domination are coming along nicely. I'll be launching a new Link List and TGP in the coming months, but this time I want to do things out of the gate to set up for the long term.

I'm looking for a TGP script that can do some pretty impressive things and I have no idea if there's one out there. This is what I'm looking for:

--Run multiple TGP sites from one database
--Allow submits from a submit page on each site, all going into the same database for review
--Display all categories with their own pages and archives on some sites, and only one or two categories with their own pages on other sites.

Obviously I'm not looking for 'free' or even 'cheap,' I just want to find something that will do the job I need to do. TIA for any ideas.

Max

How much manual work are you willing to do?

If you upload every update by hand and use some creative SSI then even Autogallery SQL does all you want, and the licensing cost is per database (as I confirmed with JMB). I run 2 TGPs from 1 AGP database (and am planning to add another text-only TGP) and they look relatively different...

Otherwise the next cheapest option could be to go with a standard option (like AGP or Comus) and have a small custom script written to do the server updates.

Nothing against this particular script, but this is their first post [= most likely nothing but spam], and from past experience I'd shy away from new scripts: I wasted some $400+ [purchase and install] and lots of my nerves on TGPXS, only to find that the programmer never finished all promised features [some very important ones like gallery checker], and then sold it to a guy who didn't know what to do with it, so it was off the market within a couple of months...

Actually, I sort of hold the blame here. He's a hosting client that had a product that I felt was quite relevant to the discussion.

He's been a client and a friend since August 2003 and I will personally vouch for him.

Hey Firefoz! Sorry to throw you into the briar patch.

I think its a relevant reply to this topic. If this topic was about an other subject than TGP scripts and I'd post it, it would be spam.

Thanks for your reply cd34

Ontopic: GeorgeTH, I understand what you are saying. New scripts have to proof theirself. Vanilla is currently running at various sites already, and the number of sites using it increases daily. First sites using it started in november 2004 (beta version).

TGP rotator from JMBsoft will do everything you've asked about except for take public submissions - but you could I suppose set up a separate page that would post page urls, descriptions, etc. to a text file that you could easily import into it.

Well, with as many adult webmasters as I know, just putting "welcome, STONER" would go a long way towards personalization.

O.k. - now one site, we're submitting to, has installed Vanilla TGP, and my wife just commented (during submission): "This new Vanilla script is a total pain in the ass! It's worse than voice prompts with telephone banking; do this, click that, go to next page, do this, fill in that, click again... go to next page" = that truly is a pain in the ass! |shocking|
"Even PicHunter's submissions are easier, and there it's at least worth it..." [/end quote my wife]

You're not replying on icq - probably offline - and I have to gin 5 min so I'll just reply here;

Could you please let me know what's so "annoying" of the submit form? If you'd fill in all fields with valid values you can actually submit a gallery with one click
So I'd really like to know how I can make your wife's life more easier
(I must say though, that it depends on the setup of the site, if you upload or create a thumb etc)

I had been off-line (being in Australia means my working hours are usually differnet to the rest of 'the world')...

I finally replied, and he explained that it has to do with the option for webmasters to assign different thumbnail sizes to different categories - probably all well and fine for TGP owners, but still a nuisance for submitters, particularly those of us who are using Roboform or an autosubmitters: you enter most gallery details on one page, and then go to a second page and enter the thumbnail...

I'll watch it - definitely not worth the effort for little traffic = small sites using this script won't get my submissions (and they're usually the ones who need more decent galleries).

But I still must say: 6 (yes: six!) pages/stages to go thru for one submission is a bit much - just a tad too much...
And then they're wondering why we say "the new Vanilla script is a total pain in the ass!"

And now already the second site in my submission list has Vanilla installed |shocking|

Six pages is not true. There are 3 pages when uploading/making a thumbnail. We are going to make this 2 by skipping the OK button today.
I have no idea how you count to six.

I can count, trust me:
1. log-in
2. select 'submit' (among 'messages', 'gallery stats', etc.)
3. (with some sites) select the TGP you want to submit to
4. submit page URL, description, and select 2 categories
5. get feedback (initial gallery check) and click 'next'
6. up-load thumbnail
be automatically returned back to page number
7. menu

yes, I know, that's seven, not six, but step 3 only happens with sites using the script for multiple TGPs...

Enable cookies in your browser. Then you can skip step 1,2 and 3 by going to that page directly through the url
4. this is the actual submitting, so count starts here -> 1
5. This skip has been removed in the update of a few days ago.
6. Correct, upload a thumbnail, click #2
7. Why would you want to click to menu again? Just close the browser, you're done.

On ICQ you told me the login-process and going to the submit page was no problem, so why is it now?
What you are saying is the same as:

1. going to the www.thetgpiwanttosubmitto.com
2. click on "webmasters"
3. click on "submit gallery"
4. submit gallery
5. click back

You can bookmark the actual submit page and just close the window after the submitting, its just 2 clicks.
If you set up your submitprogram/bookmarks correctly, its just 2 clicks. (If its still 3, then the site owner hasnt updated yet).
