One thing I noticed about blogging...

Is you gotta love it. You have to be a writer. So many people think "oh well I'll just throw something up every day and make some money".

Then they fail because they realize it's not that easy and they stop updating their blog. I can't even count how many people I know who were all gung ho about writing a blog only to let it taper off after a month or two.

Which is nothing wrong with that, but I've noticed you have to really enjoy it to have staying power.

I wonder what the lifespan of the average blog is? I'd say 6 months.

Hey Jenc,

I'd say for some adult folks 6 months would be a marathon! I've seen some blogs implode at the 30 day mark.

Its important to keep a good track of the blogs you've done link exchanges with for this reason. I use
www.bloglines.com

that way I can see who has updated when If its been too long, they get a gentle nudge. if its still been really long they get the axe

When Torn 1st suggested starting a LJ account, I wasn't too sure. So I would have more interaction with my members and let them get to know me on a more personal level.

I'm more of a face to face person with my life, so it made me nervous, besides what to talk about. It is not like it is known to the public what my day job is and it takes up a good portion of my life.

After a while it has become an outlet for my venting (last yr's elections as an example) and for my thoughts. Sometimes I'm afraid it may get hum-drum but then this adminstration always has something in the news to set me off.

I'll have some sort of online journal/blog for 3 yrs in Nov.

Loving it is definitely needed to hang in there. Being able to see the big picture is a must, which many people cannot do, so they fold.

I've been blogging since 2001 and yeah . . . seen a lot of blogs come and go. Some of them were fantastic, probably because they were very focused and topical (malelibrariancenterfold who wrote funny entries and rants about being a librarian, plus lots and lots of stripper and escort blogs), but once they run out of stuff to say or get caught writing at work or whatever . . . poof, the blog is gone. Even if they were great writers and loved it. What I'm talking about is definitely a different phenomenon than the ones cropping up now by adult "webmasters" though.

Hmm yes i agree longevity is definatly a big problem in adult blogs atm, especially compared to say running a TGP.

I saw a very interesting post the other day on this topic. One webmaster was suggesting that webmasters post to his blog their galleries, and a small written piece, if they want a link to thier site in the post the must recip to his blog. In this was he was always getting new content and it statisified some of his link trade requirements.

So can porn blogs become the new TGPs? What do you rekon?

I started submitting a few galleries to his blog and OK it's not TGP traffic but I'm already getting some hits and from what I understand most of his traffic is coming from se and technoratti. Definately one to watch out for.

Hello all,

The site Tommy Tickler mentions is MyPornFeed... I've had it setup for a week now and it's already listed on all the major search engines... as Tommy says I'm getting other webmasters to post their galleries as an alternative way to get traffic to them aside of TGP's

I've posted the article for you all on the general discussion forum here: http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...945#post183945

As wankmaster says loads of its traffic is coming from technoratti and SE's... the SE traffic will increase as the content builds with KeyWord rich content

I hope its of some use to you

When you make a blog that reflects you and your personality, it makes it harder for you to let go so you get more inspired to continue it. However, there are a lot of bloggers who start a blog and then discontinue probably because of discouragement or lack of time.

I don't think so Tommy. I think that when most people go to look for porn they don't want to read so much as view.

What someone ought to do is create a blog co-op. That way you have different sponsors, news articles etc...

Fair point GunnCat... most of the text will probably get skimmed but what it does provide is excellent spider food... it's usually all good on topic, with decent keyword density textual content that continually builds up

The "Comments" feature also promotes people to post further on topic textual content

and a side benefit it promotes a sense of community, and thus repeat visitors and repeat posters

It all depends on how you use the technology
