Recip links back to LL

Hi All
I've had sites rejected recently not because of my site but because of some of the other LLrecips having more than 2 links back to the LL. All the LL's are board members here.
I know Kit from Penisbot started a thread on this but I can't find it.
What's the current feeling about this. Is 3 or more links per recip too many? Can I, as a submitter, delete links from a recip? I have no qualms about changing recip colours but i'm not sure about anchors!
Your thoughts would be very welcome.

I think this was kinda left hanging a bit.

A LOT of link list owners don't like more than 2 outbound links per recip...myself included. Frankly, anything more than 2 is being greedy. I've been known to let 3 slide though...if the rest of the site is good.

There's one list in particular that has 9 if I remember correctly...and yes, I do decline sites with his recip.

As to how to deal with the issue. I'd suggest you contact the owner of the list with excessive outbound links and ask them if you can alter their recip. Or, simply do it...link back to the category and the root...and see if he/she still accepts your sites. If they have a comments field, you might even want to mention the issue there. Just some thoughts

I shall start altering the recips to 2 outgoing links and where possible mention it in the comments field.

There's a lengthy thread here (which i can't seem to locate) about LL links, LL table size, text recips, etc. Maybe someone can point that thread out to ya' japamor.

Due to that thread I use only text recips w/two outbound links each. And as one step further, I only use 2 lines of text for each LL with each line being a link. One for the root and one for the cat. I've heard no complaints.

I don't even use 'all caps' text as some LL's want, because I feel it gives them an unfair visual advantage over the other LL's IMHO. So far, no bitchin'! They could turn on me like a pack of cross dogs tomorrow, but as of today all is OK.

The flip side of the coin is I make my recip tables eye appealing to the surfer. Not like a thrown together pile of shit. example-yesterdays FS: www[dot]grrl-porn.com/free/bourne/index.html

IMO fulfilling the surfers needs/wants comes way before the LL owners needs/wants. The surfer has the CC, the LL owner has the traffic, the webmaster has the product. Hand in hand in hand.

I tried and tried on yesterday's submit to fit MrYum's recip into the table. He states very clearly in his rules to keep things 'intact' which would create a 3 line recip. So I had to skip over MrYum. (Are ya' listenin'? I thought about PMing but it's plain as day in your rules dude!)

Sorry japamor, didn't mean to take off on a tangent like that. My one sentence post tuned in to a novel.

Short story: I'd say let common sense be your guide.

Next time you are looking at my site for your listings check out some of the others. Text recips are fine by me

No worries Glowlite, feel free to adjust as needed to make them fit the theme of your site

I have to put something up in the rules or the recips will get completely bastardized...trust me on that one.

As you mentioned, let common sense be your guide...and you'll be fine You seem to be one of the folks I can say that to...which is not true of all submitters.

I know with my link directory I normally don't bother with sitting here counting links on a recip, however, I know that most would be ok with two, but as for more on a banner...I think that would be unfair to everyone else.

Exactly...I'm not overly 'anal' about it myself. A quick scan of the recips and continue the review. And I don't decline a site if another link site has 3 links...unless there are other problems with the site anyway.

There is however one link site in particular...just saw his recip again last night...that has 10 outbound links. That's so far over the top...yes, I do decline any sites with his recip.
