Nice - check out the Geminids!

It's been a great show so far, and it's supposed to get better.

The weather is fairly mild here, the sky is clear to slightly cloudy, and those slow lazy geminid meteors have been flying across the sky all night.

Gemini (Castor and Pollux) is to the left of the highly recognizable Orion and the brightest star in the sky, Sirius. The meteors are coming from the area of Gemini. They're at about one a minute here.

Worth taking a few minutes to go outside and see some meteors.

75F and a little too overcast to even find orion tonight. And I was not feeling well when the shuttle went up for the night launch -- even though we're quite a distance away, the last night launch, we were able to see the reddish streak.

I did my usual nightly star gazing. I didn't know where were going to be bursts in the sky, but alas, the city lights overpower any meteor shower viewings here.
