Donno how long it will stay there - this movie is blowing my mind - I even knew most of this stuff before - but the scenes of health care in other countries is amazing. |

Ya got me man, I got sound, listening to the end right now, where he's gonna take 9/11 rerscue workers with illnesses to gitmo for health care.
Check another video to see if you got sound. It wouldn't surprize me if a lot of people were watching this right now, maybe causing problems. |

I'm curious about your thoughts on the scenes in other countries. I've had some dealing with health care in a few other continents and while it was different it didn't seem bad. Certainly worth the price.

I've never had health care in a country other than the US so I have no experience to test it by.
I assume moore is presenting things in the best possible light, but the statistics and information seemed pretty striking. The scene in cuba with the 9/11 woman sobbing to discover that the same medicine that cost $120 in the US cost 5 cents in cuba. And the cheering of the 9/11 workers by the hospital staff after the tests and treatments seemed over the top and probably contrived. The scenes were from canada, the uk, and france - then the stuff from cuba. I hate doctors and the health system in the US, so I imagine I'm biased. The horror stories of the people who did have insurance, but were denied care for reasons that seemed entirely contrived and illegitimate, were pretty crazy. Crazy bad, crazy sad, crazy frightening. |

I can now put whatever I want in this space :P

I tried to watch. 30 seconds in, they show this guy with a busted knee trying to fix it by himself. This is where I had to stop.
Other then that I'm sure it's an awesome movie. I enjoyed some of Moore's other movies, and he's doing a pretty good job calling things what they are.

The cost of medical care in America is shocking. Over 60% of all bankruptcies in America are because of medical bills. Most of them were people that had good insurance.
The lawyers make sickingly large amounts of money from doctors. Insurance companies make massive amounts by raising rates every year. Doctors make huge amounts of money when someone could just look up 99% pf all symtoms in a database and most doctors could never figure out the last 1% any way. I used to purchase meds whenever I travelled over seas. Prescription antihistamines mostly but I'd also pick stuff for others. I'd pay a few bucks for meds that cost over $100 here. Even if you have a good prescription plan it's cheaper in every country I've visited. America needs to remove the lawyers from the system and all free enterprise to bring in drugs from other countries. That alone would cut costs drastically. Of course you can still get a 75$ Tylenol in the hospital and that's another issue. It's sad but as long as Fox News keeps people hating each other and America is busy watching Paris then they can fuck us all forever. |

As far as health care in Canada that one comment from an Amercian politician about waiting 10 months for a bypass is bullshit. My mother-in-law lives in one of the poorest parts of the country and had a mild heart attack a month ago. She needed a bypass and the hospital in her area is a small one and can't do them so they took her by ambulance two hours away and did the bypass within a week. She's back in the local hospital now waiting until she's recovered enough to have some gallstones removed. She'll be out within a week and it won't cost her a dime. She will have to pay for any medication she needs, but will get most of the money back.

It seems like everything we heard about the terrible healthcare situations in other countries was bullshit.
