I used to submit Free sites but only every blue moon now days. My list is less then Simon's as I only have around 6 Link Lists that are worth submitting to on my list.
My goal used to be to send traffic to paysites and to feed my hub through recip traffic. I gave up due to ROI Vs Time spent. The traffic is just not there anymore compared to even 2 years ago which must be depressing for the LL owners (with the exception of one or two LL's). Also most LL reviewers are nob heads, sticking to 1995 submit rules in 2010. When you had traffic sure I would play your game, but these days get the fuck outa here. My suggestion for LL owners is to turn their site into a tube hybrid, no point kidding ourselves that this isn't the direction of the internet. Set it up in the style of tube clips on first 1/2 of the index page then list today's newest submits below them. Then below them have your category links, which lead off to their respective pages. Making the surfer who is looking for free porn and tube sites jump through the maze which is the LL format most people use today, your traffic level is only going to keep going in one direction. -N

I submit a few free sites sporadically. The goal is to create spider food while at the same time giving some eye candy to my repeat customers. Years ago I submitted a site every day and stopped because it became too much of a hassle. Keep in mind I go way back. The rules changed a little too often for me. If I go down an industry standard, the Link-O-Rama list of rules, I can point to folders (covering several years) of never submitted sites prepped in advanced of a rule change. Therefore I opted to wait for things to settle before working on any more sites.
The one thing that keeps me from submitting every day is the template guideline of not overusing the templates. Some places have reduced use to a few times or even once a month. I still do my sites by hand. I can not maintain 30 templates, and do not see the need in my business model to have multiple templates. I can recall earlier in the decade going over the new submits and no matter the niche could tell instantly the submitter. It was the same template day in and day out with different marketing text and of course content. Each site was unique based on the submitter. The second thing that keeps me from submitting every day is that gnawing feeling that I am making doughnuts. I love submitting my galleries - which are from my unsubmitted free sites – to The Hun because he rewards you for being a little creative. I can add a story to my pictures or a video clip. I remember my first Persian Kitty free site. I worked on it for a 3 days. That was 2000 and it still makes money. That site could not be submitted to any link list today. So, it’s relevant to the surfer (and my bottom line) but not to the link lists. Damn. Phone. Later. |
