Tutorial For Photoshop Elements

Can someone recommend a good online tutorial for photoshop elements. I hate the user guide that came with the software.

Thanks

http://www.photoshoproadmap.com/phot...-elements.html
should be plenty here BUT, as with almost all adobe programs if you really want to do remarkable things with their programs its best to go to their website and check out the links they give
only problem is........exspect to pay some pretty hefty amounts of cash for the knowledge.

I'm wondering if Photoshop Elements is like the old LE versions Adobe used to do?

Ardentgent,

Can i ask why you chose this version?

I hadn't heard of it before.. but it looks to be aimed at people who dont want to read manuals to me... looking at the adobe blurb on it i imagine it is supposed to be totally intuitive... if it isn't dead simple... I would bust my nut to afford a copy of full PS and learn that..

Still, I dont really know anything about it.. so would like to hear how it works for you.... i know a bunch of people I would love to be able to recommend an entry level version of PS to... hopefully something that is very easy to learn and gets people used the basic concepts of PS.

Photoshop LE at least was something like Photoshop but with a lot of features missing.

Elements is more like Etch-O-Stetch turned into Photoshop. It looks real cute and is easy to use but doesn't really do much and is almost impossible to do any real work on.

You are better off selling a kidney or something and buying Photoshop.

Yep.... and "usually" Adobe offer some kind of discounted upgrade option if you already own one of their LE products.

I think LE stood for Limited Edition, in the sense that you were limited in what you could do with it.

Limited with what you could do with it is right. I have LE that came bundled with a program I am using and I have to tell you it is the most worthless POS I have ever seen, no exaggeration, hands down.
I attempted to open a PSD in it that someone else did
I know I know
later version might not be supported by this older version blah blah blah
BUT, by the time the LE actually opened the file, it was trash. Utterly useless to me.
Unfortunately I don't have a screaming need for PS on a daily basis, just something that would be nice to have to tweak the hell out of some projects, but its frustrating trying to use LE when I am so used it having PS at my fingertips.

ardentgent........what are you going to be using elements for? If you answer is graphic design for the web.......then the best thing you could do is recycle aluminum cans or something to scratch up the cash for photoshop. Its one of those investments you'll be smiling about for years afterward honestly. And there are literally thousands of tutorials for photoshop ranging from tweaking pics to full on graphic-gasms.

Gimp is free and is surprisingly powerful. It runs under *nix and I believe that they also have a version for Windows.

as always Cleo, thanks tons for the link. I got it bookmarked and will download the program and give it a whirl in the next few weeks.
I just hope that Adobe Premier Pro will support whatever output file I save in heh heh
I am sure it will

It was recommended to my by a very experienced webmaster as a tool for creating nice text that I can use on galleries. If someone can recommend something else I'll scrap it.

I have no idea what elements can do or what it is, but if you get photoshop the full version, check out thewebmachine.com. Nice tutorials on really cool effects... phong.com too but thats more limited. There are actually many tutorial sites for PS... just google 'em up |afro|

Ardengent.... how are you finding Elements? have you tried to open a normal photoshop .psd file with it? maybe show us something you have made.. not to critique it... just to see what you can manage in a few days with no prior knowledge.... Most people that try and teach themselves PS give up well before being able to do much of anything useful... thats the biggest drawback it has imho.

What's the most anyone has paid for photoshop? It's a ridiculous price in the local stores anytime I have seen it.

Someone who has done this might know a more exact $$ figure... but if I had paid retail price for version 2 or 3 and followed the upgrade path all the way to the new CS version I would have had to have spent about $2500+ bucks on the program I think...

I bought a second hand copy of v7 from a friend for us$75 recently and I won a copy of V4 a few years ago.. So, for my personal copy, I will have only spent about $300 over the years by the time I buy the CS upgrade.. but that is still quite a bit more than just about any of the other pieces of software I use daily.. not saying PS isnt worth the price.... just that it is so much more expensive than the average adult webmaster tool.. for it to sell at such a high price and still have so many people using it, surely photoshop must be one product that has actually benefitted from widespread piracy.

Although I am sure Adobe would argue the prices would be cheaper with no piracy... I think the software simply wouldnt be worth as much without the massive user base, which I think is a direct result of all the pirating of it.. if there wasn't 1000s of PS help sites and add-ons out there can anyone imagine how few of us that aren't full time designers would be using it too...

Anyway... long story for a short question... over your adult webmaster career how much have you spent on PhotoShop?

Opti, you know it photoshop is exspensive, but in all honesty I dont know of many other products out there worthy of that kind of price tag. Photoshop, and pretty much the entire adobe line is well worth the cost of the programs (this morning I ordered Premier Pro for work and will be buying another copy of it for my home business as well........that's loyalty heh heh)
I think it is interesting to know that you just continued to upgrade, very cool indeed. and not a bad idea.
someone could probably find an older version of photoshop at an auction site and upgrade their butts off to the full current version heh heh

I've owned ever version of Photoshop ever made right back to the very first version back in the eighties.

It is a tool that works better then anything else that I have ever used. It is also something that I just enjoy using and playing with. It is also a standard with lots of great resources and tutorials.

I like this one for Photoshop
http://www.eyeball-design.com/fxzone/tutorial.htm

So how much have I spent? I've spent as much as a persona can spend buying ever upgrade that has been released, a whole fucking lot of money.

I've also bought a lot of filters and plugins over the year for it.

But far less then what I spend on this each year.
