epassporte

With all the news about PayPal I figured I would look into alternatives. A few of the sponsors I am promoting have switch to epassporte so I figured I would to... did you know they charge your credit card when you sign up?

I emailed them to find out what was up because I really dont want to have to dish out money in order to use their service, I'll save the cash and keep putting my checks in the bank.

Anyway, here is the reply I received from them:

Dear Cardholder,

Please find below the information you requested:

The load fee is standard for all customers and is not negotiable.

FEES OF EPASSPORTE PERSONAL ACCOUNT

Virtual Card Activation Fee FREE

Load/Reload Fee $5 per $100 or portion thereof

Thank you for using ePassporte.

Regards,

Dreana

I have no problems with epassporte. It works much better than waiting for a check to arrive then finding time to deposit it.

Too bad there's a $500 cap on it & you can't wire money to & from your normal bank account.

Jim's busy today, or else he'd be here sharing more of his horror stories.

It's only a pending charge.

I love it. Flash cash signed me up for it and just deducted the charge from what they owed me one pay period. Sine then a lot of my sponsors started using it. I just let the money build up and take it when I need it. When I need to buy something or need quick cash. (For instance I just took out cash fir the webmaster party this weekend.)

I also send people money with it and pay for things online. The only time I am charged is when I send someone money and it's only like $.25 or something. I like it way better then Paypal.

I would like to be able to transfer funds right to my bank though.

Hello Board....

First time here. But I'm no newbie. For those of you who may not know me or have been under a rock for the last 7 years, my name is Rand and I'm with Epoch / Paycom / ePassporte.

So, Terry, the load fees quoted to you are correct for a personal account that you obtain yourself, but, you can get one from a sponsor without loading anything at all and therefore have no load costs. ;-) - Or depending on your needs, a business account has no load fees either and is funded via wire transfer instead of by credit card. There are ways to make ePassporte work for you.

Swedguy, you are correct. Thanks for pointing out the right info.

Greenguy - Nice board. I'll be back. And, if you need more than a $500 cap on transfers we can accommodate that. The $500 cap is a default and can be raised. CS@epassporte.com can tell you how. It's simple.

Dr Bizzaro, be careful what you ask for, you might just get it.

I'll hang for a bit in case you guys have more questions.

Rand - 1st off, nice to see you here on the board

2nd, like I stated above, if Jim was not offline today, you'd be getting an earful. He's jumped thru all the hoops & still has a $500 cap. I'm sure he'll post everything once again when he gets back online.

As far as the overall concept of ePassporte, I am happy with it, but the transfers to & from our personal bank accounts were on of the things that were "comming soon" when you released this back in Jan 03 - that's my major problem with it.

Welcome to the board, Rand. I believe you came to the Flash Cash board when they started with instant payments.

I like EP and it's a feature I look for when I signup with a new sponsor (since I'd rather not chance checks getting to me in the uk), but I also second Greenguy's comments. I'm very curious indeed as to why you still haven't integrated wire transfer. You're losing out on massive financial transfers, so it surely can't be "executive decision" which is holding you back.

Can you give any indication at all as to when you might integrate transfers?

Let me fill in for Jim.
" I like Epassporte but they´ve promised for a year+ that they would add the option to transfer money to your bank account and I am still waiting."

With that said I haven´t heard any "HORROR" stories from Jim about Epassporte only complaint I heard from him was about the option to transfer to ones own bank account. I love Epassporte I´ve used it for 11 months and 22 days and never had a problem.
I got my account thru ARS and paid the $40 for an account and a Electron card. In a few days I have to pay the same $40 fee again and its with a smile on my face I do it. As an webmaster located in Europe they saved me a lot of headaches.

Hi Rand,

Is there an easy way to have a third party pay money to my epassporte account with a CC without them having to register for their own account and go through the CC confirmation routine?

When my mother passed away, I tried to increase my limit. I filled out the EpassPorte forms to do this 3 times and spoke to you and others. Everytime I faxed this (sensitive) information to EpassPorte, I was later told, "we didn't get it, could you send it again?". I really wanted to use EpassPorte during that time. But, with your people losing faxed copies of my SSN, driver's license and other sensitive material, I lost all confidence in the people behind your product.

We have been hearing for well over a year that the ability to transfer funds directly to our bank accounts was "coming soon". And now, I can transfer money using my cell phone. Tell me, what possible use would anyone have for transferring money using their cell phone?

There are a lot of people that are using EpassPorte because I told them it was the greatest new product since sliced bread. For those people, all I can say, I'm sorry...I was wrong.

Surfn
For you, being able to take a few hundred out with your Electron card may be fine. But, I have a friend that started getting paid through EpassPorte by every sponsor he could a while back. He made much more than $500/day. And, every day to get his money, he had to go to an atm and withdrawal $500. See, he went through the same thing I did trying to get the limit raised. The ability to withdrawal $500/day from an atm was anything but convenient. He now gets paid by checks.

So there I have it. Good stories, bad stories. I just know that I dont agree with the fee to open an account.. not that Im a cheap bastard or anything (I am) but thats not the point.

I agree with GG&J on this one and I will not use, nor will I refer anyone to it until either of them approve of it, that I promise.

Thanks for your reply Rand.

Don't get me wrong...I have no real horror stories other than trying to get my limit raised at a very difficult time in my life to no avail.

And, I still do use it frequently but with a lot less money than I wanted to. My limit is still $500 even though I have faxed all the sensitive information required 3 times. That information must be floating around someplace

EpassPorte is good...my only problem is it could have been great. But hey...at least if I want to send money through my cell phone for some reason I can't quite come up with, I can

Since I have taken advantage of epassporte with several sponsors I usually have more than 500 per day deposits too. It would be nice ( we are in agreement here) to use their interface to transfer funds to my banks.

My issue with ePassporte was it took us a solid 3 months to get set up. I would have wished for that to be completed within a month, but with any new process, it has to be perfected.

Rand, where are ya with the answers? We would also like to know what timeframe you have in mind when you say that the ability to transfer money to our bank accounts is "coming soon".

What do we tell our affiliates when they begin asking us how to raise their cap? How long does it actually take? How long should it take? Does it ever actually happen?

Thanks in advance for the response.

Welcome to GreenguyandJim, taboo_gal

I would really like to think that my experience with getting my limit raised was isolated. I know some people that have had it successfully done.

As I said, epassporte is a very good product. But, with some work, it could be great.

Setting up epassporte was a very trying experience for us. I think there may have been just a couple of weeks where we didn't have some sort of problem getting money paid to webmasters. But things finally seem to be settling down a bit. I guess my biggest beef was the system was no where near ready when launched and I feel like we did too much beta testing. At least we didn't catch a lot of crap from webmasters over it

Hi, Jim! Thanks for the welcome.

It is a good service. I agree, though, that it could be better. All new things have a process to iron out and I totally understand that. We live with it everyday.

It would be nice, though, to have reassurance from them that issues such as yours are very rare and isolated. Knowing that there is a process in place to prevent such, to handle it promptly upon receipt or resolve mistakes quickly would certainly make one using and promoting their service rest easier.
