What kind of TGP would you prefer?

Whats best in your opinions. A all thumbs tgp or a all text tgp? I know that the text tgp will be more SE friendly becuase SE's done read images. But the look of a all thumbs tgp is much better.

I have read some old threads here about this and have some idea about it but I wanted to get some more opinions.

Or would it be best to mix it up and have both text and thumbs togehter? This is what I was thinking of doing but wanted to get some feedback on this.

One last thing: Does it matter how much a surfer has to scroll dowm to go all the way down your site? what I mean is if I do make this a Text and thumbs tgp then I will need to make the site longer, so would it matter? will something like this annoy the surfer?

The length doesn't matter to a typical surfer. They want it to load fast and they want the good stuff to "start" without scrolling. If you do those two things right then they will scroll down 3-4 times np

I'm gonna ditto Surfn's comments.

You seem to have a fair understanding already of the pros and cons. Text loads faster and the spiders dig it. But thumbs offer a visual impact for surfers the moment your page loads. A healthy mixture doesn't hurt when you use both to your advantage.

yeah ditto what useless warrior said : lets say thumb preview for current day new galleries and the rest is text for example.

Like you I'm in the midst of building both a thumbs and text TGP.
I agree with Surfn and UW that length doesn't matter and you have to make sure you have a good host for fast loading.

Thumbs TGP's will grow faster than a text TGP just because of the appeal to the surfer. It will also depend if you are running hardlinks or using a script to control your trades. Some of the scripts can crop all your pics, follow production of each pic etc,etc.
Running with a thumbs manager and trade script can actual increase the production of your trades.

For pure production purposes I like a Thumb TGP better. If you keep your skimming for trades to a decent level and keep the surfer happy you will have a winner.

Text TGP's are still the heavy hitters in the industry ( The Hun, AL4A, and the like ) and your growth can be good as well with more long term stability ( Bookmarks ). Scripts are also a good idea and almost all the big sites use them. Principles are still the same. Keep the surfer happy.

I think I will be starting one of each then.......and just look at the stats to see what is working best and experiment with both sites as well to see what brings in more traffic and bookmarker.

Would it be good to use these 2 sites to trade traffic with each other? I was thinking of trading with them.

If you trade between the two sites remember to:

Get different trades for each site. Gives a good mix of traffic

And check the sites you trade with as some text TGPs will not trade with thumb TGPs and vice versa.

well, for thumb tgps, the SE do read the alt tag.

text tgps are pretty hard to grow though, you don't see a lot of 100k+ text tgp, but they could start to grow when the new 2257 hits everyone.

So Can I. There are a lot fo great text tgp's......actually I think the top 2 or 3 are all text.

I will try to do a text one and a thumbs. then compare them and mix and match with new ways to generate traffic.
