Questions about 2257 database software?

I am looking to invest into a database program for 2257.

I was told by our attorney that mavis 2257 is real good, but the price is pretty costly. They offer two versions; a basic edition for 300.00 and the spider edition for a 1000.00.
I have read about both programs and it almost seems like you will need to order the spider version updates sometime in the future or start out with the spider version.
In any case I just dont have that kind of money to spend at the moment.

I have looked at my2257 records and that is along the lines of what I was expecting to spend.

Can anyone give me any feedback on these two programs or point me to other choices.
Thanks for your help
